Hi,
I recently moved from Solarplicity to Bulb energy. Solarplicty sent me a bill dated the 12th November, but received on the 24th, stating a final bill of almost £800 which was due on the 28th. This bill was mostly due to me supposedly using £800 of gas in the month of August(?!). Our entire electricity and gas usage for a year isn't even this much!!
I called them on the 27th to inform them they had the wrong meter readings, explained the issue and requested a hold on the payment until the issue is resolved. They agreed, but took the money anyway on the 28th.
So just before my monthly bills come out of my account, just before I went on a weeks holiday, and a month before Christmas I'm now £800 out of pocket.
Have gone through their complaints procedure and no joy. Have contacted them through social media and still no joy. Apparently they are still "verifying" the correct reads. They've been doing this for 2 weeks.
Any help as to how I can get this money back?
Thanks

Complain to the Energy Ombudsman. Solarplicity is one of the companies signed up to them, so the Ombudsman will accept a referral.0 -
Assuming the money was taken by Direct Debit then just contact your bank and get the money returned immediately using the Direct Debit Guarantee. You do not have to prove anything to your bank as the direct debit guarantee has no strings attached.
Then cancel the direct debit.
Once this has been done, go to the Solarplicity web site and follow their official complaints procedure. Demand every thing to be in writing only and use the words official complaint.
Tell them you have had the direct debit money returned to you, that you've cancelled the DD and will pay the final bill once it has been calculated correctly.0
