This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning :santa2:

Nels I missed your birthday, so sorry :o Extra cake for you :bdaycake: :bdaycake: :D

Thank you, lovely people :D It took Scamp about five weeks to stop barking at pushbikes again, after those spotty oiks stopped next to us and tormented him, so I was a bit worried about this too. But he seems OK, he did his usual happy dance when we got home yesterday then wanted to be left alone for most of the afternoon. The doorbell rang and I thought he'd worry, but he just did his usual “woo hoo there's someone at the door!” and by early evening he was back to his normal self

I don't know if you remember, but Scamp was attacking our telly and scratched it quite a bit. Mr tru demoted it to the bedroom and bought a new one a while back. I said it was a waste of money and we should wait til we could get Scamp to ignore the telly. He started to scratch that one too (which I found quite funny tbh) and a few months ago he pushed the screen in ever so slightly, it left a very thin white line shining through in one corner but it was hardly noticable. Mr tru decided to try to fix it last night, I warned him not to but he did and managed to break the damn thing. So he's ordered a new telly AGAIN, with a big wide stand AGAIN – my biggest complaint about it was the size of the unit needed to put the thing on, especially when you consider it's a skinny telly. Miffed is not the word. I don't know how to cope with him being home over Christmas, there's always some sort of incident on his days off, a few days in a row is going to be a nightmare. I opened a tub of Roses, took out all my favourites, unwrapped them, put them in a bowl then ate them, I felt a bit better after that.

The carol concert was fab, they did a brilliant version of Joy To The World which was already my favourite carol but this was amazing :D There was a snow machine, tea, coffee, non-alcoholic mulled wine, mince pies and biscuits. Donkeys and sheep outside on the field. The kids got to see Father Christmas in his grotto. A craft area where kids could decorate stockings, wreaths, etc. then go up on stage to show off their creations. Some littlies had decorated small wooden stars, during the service they walked around with their parents and handed them out to random people – I was a random person and now have a very colourful new decoration hanging on my tree :D It was all free except for the handmade wreath I bought for £5, a woman had made them from willow and holly from her garden. We wandered over to the pub afterwards, my dad, uncle and my favourite cousin were there. A very good day, though I needed peace for a while when I got home, I can't really cope with loud and busy for long :D

After yesterday's busyness I'm going to have a quiet day. We'll go for a walk then the doors will be locked, I'm going to imagine that the outside world doesn't exist :D I'll potter about slowly getting things done and will flick through work things to make sure I haven't missed anything, I want to make sure I'm bang up to date then I can forget about it for a while. Then watch a film on the old telly that has been brought down from upstairs :D

Morning all.

Still pitch black outside though there's a very bright crescent moon, no clouds will mean a cold day.

Yesterday I was overcome with such tiredness I couldn't keep my eyes open. It was very weird. Found myself in bed by 4pm and was sound asleep very soon after. Never stirred until twenty minutes ago.

I 'decorated' my Christmas branch , it's now got baubles on. :j

Today will see me at work for a short time. After that I have no idea.

Happy Monday to all.

Morning everyone

bellabella - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Pitch black here, damp underfoot after raining for much of the night, but air doesn't feel as cold.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Lunch yesterday was a bit late as we went to visit the parents in the morning, and got delayed. When we returned home DS2 was sous chef and helped prep the veg so lunch wasn't as late as it could have been if I'd been doing it all alone. We had lamb shanks, roasties, mash, carrots, HG sprouting broc, green beans, broc, peas, yorkshires and gravy - lovely it was too. Tonight menfolk will have scampi and chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I'll be having fish and veg. We then went to visit family member who is not well and waiting for test results, can really see that they are not good and something is seriously wrong, but am agreeing with their partner who is convinced they have MS - I think they may be right, these test results will give us answers as the doctors are thinking along the same lines. We'll see.

Hoping we get a busy day - as the day flashes by - we'll see. Heating engineer coming this afternoon to service the boiler. It's not quite a year old, can't believe where this year has gone! I've been meaning to contact him to book the service and I saw him on Wednesday walking past work so managed to speak to him and get it sorted. It'll be good to get it done before any bad weather arrives.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :santa2:
Sorry I haven't been posting, will try to make more effort. I am still not able to sleep through the night and end up downstairs watching rubbish tv and dozing so I feel shocking. Just need to get through Christmas and then I will try to tackle this problem with my GP's help hopefully.

It has been trying times here with Lee and his mad mood swings, Steve and Lilly are still not really talking and my eldest daughter Jemima told me she and her husband are going to separate after Christmas. This is very sad news but not unexpected. I will be there to support all of them especially my grandchildren.

I have nearly finished wrapping all the presents except for the last few I am waiting to be delivered. Even the stocking fillers are sorted and wrapped and that is my most hated job of all as they are usually little fiddly things. Steve has to bring down the couple of big things to wrap on Christmas Eve as there is nowhere to hide them otherwise.

My mum is coming to see me this morning aka the Royal Visit so I will get the kids up to have a clean round and put the kettle on. I am trying to talk myself into going to get washed and dressed but it is so cold upstairs I want to wait until the heating has kicked in a bit.
Definitely a wooly jumper kind of day.

We are having chilli for dinner tonight if Lee remembers to get some mince out in a little while. I have just been finalising the Christmas shopping delivery and haven't spent too much money for a change. I am hoping that Steve gets paid early though this month even though it makes January a very loooong month without money.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
• Morning folks and thanks BELLA. After my better night Saturday I was back to rubbish sleeping again last night. Knew it wouldn't last!

We went to the Christmas shop at the Garden Centre as planned. Some gorgeous things - at a price - but we spent very little which was unusual. Youngest DGD fell in love with a unicorn dressed as a ballerina and spent what remained of her birthday money on it.

DS came when I got home to assist me with the new Virgin box and hub. Not the simple swap over I had expected it to be and I was wishing I had booked the £50 chappie after all. He got it up and running eventually so I just need to learn how to use it now!

Just time for a quick tea before DB and SIL popped up for the evening. I gave them my Xmas presents for them and their family but they haven't bought all theirs yet and will be up again next w/e. They leave the buying till the last minute every year - it would stress me out as I always like to be organised in good time.

Undecided whether to pop down town today, tackle some simple jobs or do nothing but play with my new tv box all day! I should really go down town as there are a few bits I need and it will get busier as the week goes on I suppose. I particularly want some new black trousers but can't be arrised trailing round various shops trying on.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the sad, worried, poorly or lonely, especially thinking of HOLLY, POPPY and TAFF undergoing treatment. Take care all xx

Morning :)

Thank for all the cake and messages yesterday. I had a nice day although it wasn't the wild event it used to be and I was in bed after the apprentice final :o

Want to finally start to think about things to pack for my holiday today as I want to wash everything and may have to do a bit of the dreaded ironing which is of course against my religion :cool:I think I will start slowly with a list or two.

Food wise I have some roast dinner left from last night so tonight will be a bubble and squeak which i think I prefer to the original roast :)

Right more tea time have a good day all

Have good days all xx
• Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, especially, Holly, Dumpling and Taff.

Well its my re-made eye appointment this morning, transport is booked, although to be honest if I get there and find they are not going to put drops in my eyes I will be really cross, I will have paid out money for nothing.

After two reasonable nights we were back to the fidgiting and sniffing so drinking tea, we did put the light out around 1.30 and OH slept, my sleep was very fitful.

Coloured load in the washer, it will be dried in the dryer, cannot do with wet washing around, apart from the fact that its not supposed to be exactly good for your health. However the kitchen door will be open and the sitting room door closed, so the heat can 'go out'.

Doing another roast dinner tonight, I have some calabrese that needs using up.
