Morning all
Thanks for the thread SO and hugs to all those in need.
I've been awake for a while, too much going on, waiting for feedback on the viewings on my house tomorrow, I need to find a solicitor, I'm driving to London next week, my coal delivery man has let me down, I have a mammogram on Tuesday, my DD's boiler has packed in and I haven't bought any Christmas presents yet.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone
Still dark here but the wind seems to have dropped, it was terrible yesterday and so cold. Had a busy morning...had my hair cut, did the last of my Christmas shopping and had my eyes tested....I couldn't believe it took an hour! After being with the same optician for years, they closed a few months ago so I decided to start buying my contact lens online....this saves me £10 a month. However I needed an up to date prescription.
Youngest DD has been back in hospital with very high blood pressure, they sent her home with an increased dose of tablets so hopefully that will help . She stayed here on Friday night and most of yesterday just in case she felt ill. The problem is its about an hours drive to the nearest hospital....so a long journey and expensive for a young couple for petrol.
Eldest DD has been in Copenhagen for the weekend....she says it's a lovely place. She'll be home on Friday for 10 days , so I'm really looking forward to that.
Well I'd better move...came down this morning to feathers everywhere, so I'll have to get the hoover out. I can't find a body though....so I'm hoping it's been eaten rather than hidden! Off down to sit with my dad later then will go down to DD's later. Going to make a nice chicken casserole in my slow cooker for tea.
Hope everyone has a good day....nice to 'see' you Holly0 -
Morning everyone.
Still no snow where I am though I’ve seen photos of the awfulness nearby. There was chaos on the Rest because of the steep hills and sharp declines.
I really enjoyed SCD final last night, apart from all the stories / journeys. I know the video bits are needed for costume and set changes, I muted the TV and read a few lines of my book in between.
Today I have to decorate my ‘tree’. It’ll take me all of 10 minutes I think. :rotfl: I don’t have any lights short enough to fit.
Tru - another lovely tune, thanks. Hope Scamp has recovered.
TA - I’m glad you had a better night, every first ‘new’ event will be difficult for you, it’s to be expected. Xx
Despite my almost Grinch-like attitude to Christmas I got three parcels from my lovely set of friends in the Newcastle area. One was obviously a bottle, long heavy cardboard box splattered with ‘heavy and fragile’stickers gave the game away, so I opened it. A very welcome bottle of Hendricks gin was inside. The other two are unopened so will go under the branch.
If the icy rain has stopped I may step outside for a stroll. I’ve been so lazy recently which has made my sore knee even more sore. It needs to do a bit more work.
There’s no cake or biscuits in the house as I can’t keep them. The stash is in the car boot as I won’t go out again to the barn for it. I’ve taken a lucky dip from the freezer, put my hand in and grabbed a ready meal, so am having steak and Ale pie later.
I’ll not be going to the annual Christmas church service this year. I only attended for the wrong reasons and to add to the meagre numbers. Now the attendance has grown enormously so I won’t be missed or needed. I found it all a bit odd too, the Episcopalian way seems to be no ‘proper’ Christmas carols or hymns that you’d recognise and a bells and smells routine.
What a waffle today. Right now I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Morning. It’s not as cold as yesterday. Washing done and dryed just needs putting away We are going to wrap presents today and write cards Roast chicken for dinner. Will have a good tidy round as well0

Holly, I'm glad you felt up to posting and that you are getting plenty of MH support.
I woke at 3.30 and couldn't get back to sleep until about 6 so I'm feeling a bit fragile now, which is a PITA because we've got friends coming this afternoon. Luckily there is not too much left to do, I need to pop out for bread, cook a salmon and some beetroot and celeriac for a veggie meal I want to try out.
I'm pleased about the Strictly result and voted for I think the second time ever.
Busy week ahead, Steve is at Addenbrookes on Tuesday for a PET scan, Wednesday to see the consultant and he has his normal bloods on Thursday, then we go to collect Ziggy because Laura is going up to Glasgow to visit her in-laws for the weekend.0 -
Morning all
It rained all day yesterday and there has been a lot of flooding locally, unfortunately it has now frozen so its quite dangerous out there, will stay in for a while this morning and let it all defrost.
Had a bit of a strange night out last night one friend was very odd and quiet did not congratulate my dd on her engagement or house move, it was just all a bit weird ! I was glad to get home tbh
Got a few cards to write and post, some through local doors so might get that done today and we might have a walk later and let Evie drag us into the pub for a G + T !
Might do a chicken and chorizo tray bake for dinner, then I can put it in a low oven while we are out.
Holly nice to see you posting xx
Tru  that would make me so mad !! (ps im going to make more saus rolls now)

Morning all
I am not firing on all cylinders this morning. I also didn't sleep well last night because of an acid stomach, so meds taken and a cup of tea and then I finally dropped off about 4am. I don't know what started that off, but the only thing that I had different from normal is a glass of shl*er.
Anyway I have stripped the bed and put the first load in the WM, with 2 more waiting in the wings. Mr Fix It is doing something culinary in the kitchen, muttering about more curry sauce . and I am staying well away :rotfl:
This afternoon we have a party to attend, it's for the DGS football team and as we are the honorary grandparent groupies, we had an invite too. DD text us this morning to tell us it's Xmas jumpers too ...... oh well we don't have any, but luckily we bought new Xmas T. shirts, so they will have to do. It solved one problem of what to wear anyway, so it's "nice" jeans, xmas t.shirt and a cardi :j. I hope no one takes offence at mine as it says " meet me under the mistletoe " written in large letters across the front :rotfl: It's a "bring some food " party so I'm taking the cheese straws and they are also collecting tinned stuff for the local food bank so I shall have a rummage in the cupboard before we go.
Nelski have a very Happy Birthday my friend :A. Here's some more cake for you :bdaycake:. I hope you enjoy your day. xx
Holly lovely to read your post. I'm sure we would all be beating down your door in RL to give you love, help and support, if we could. Nelski has done a wonderful job in keeping us posted.
Hester you sound like you are in need of an extra hug today.
Right I suppose I'd better get dressed. Then feed the Xmas cakes one last time and check in the cupboard for donations.
Take care and hugs to all.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Happy birthday Nels, hope you have a lovely day. I got the tree up last night finally. Roast chicken for dinner today.
It’s a dry day here which is good as I’m doing the Santa splash in aid of the RNLI today. This it where you wear a Santa hat and run into the sea. The sea is freezing in the height of summer so goodness know what it will be like today!
Hope everyone has a good day.0
