Car removed

Had my car removed, I guess because I had forgotten to tax it as I hadn't had it long

I called 101 and they said it'd been removed and not stolen. They couldn't tell me why it had been removed

They gave me a reference number which seemed to be local police force but they're closed.

I've just paid my road tax online.

What do I do if they're not open tomorrow? I can't find opening hours online and I understand I have to pay a release fee within 24 hours, how am I supposed to do that if they're not open?

I've sent the station an email

Need my car for work on Monday

Bus, train, taxi, phone a friend or hire a car. One of those must be an option.
  • Ye I figured that now.

    I'm guessing I can't do anything tomorrow?
  • I thought they clamped and not removed, with uninsured etc not untaxed

Yes, check their opening times on their website.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

you live in london - link for thaat
If you're in London, you can quickly find out if your car has been towed by texting "TRACE" followed by your Vehicle Registration Mark to 66663.

As i said if you live outside call 101 and they will have details.
  • I don't live in London.

As I said I called 101.they said the car wasn't stolen but removed. They gave me an 101 extension number. I called it and was a voice message at my local police station this evening.

I don't think they're open tomorrow and I guess whichever company is holding it won't be either.

Either way, they haven't informed me. I'll need documents to release.

I'm working 40 miles away from home on Monday.

Guess I'll need to do it on Tuesday.

Fine, clamp or remove my car but at least bloody text me or put a notice through my letter box to tell me why and how to get it

Nothing better to do on a Saturday night, you sad little case?

Erm Well duh yeh, they'll know my address from my car ref on their data base from dvla, dumbass

not sad , just commenting on your statement

YOU as a law breaker want PERSONAL service , perhaps if you had done like many other millions of people had TAXED YOUR CAR , you would not be in this situation

do not put blame on them , the fault is your wrong doing

    as said before

do the police have your mobile phone number?

at least I have my car (taxed as well) to go to work on monday ,
