Morning all
Very cold here and the sky is very white we did have a couple of flurry's of snow yesterday but it came to nothing, I hope we get some today
Had a lovely mooch round JL yesterday they had carol singers in and I sat and watched them for ages it was very lovely and Christmassy.
OH has gone to the boot sale and may bring home a Christmas tree if there is one, otherwise we will go to a place up the road that sells them I will get it put up today. Ive also got about four more presents to wrap which I may do and cards to write.
Tonight is our girls night xmas meal out which I am looking forward to we are going Italian this year there may also be wine
Tru my OH laughed when I asked him to get more sausage meat for sausage rolls as we 'only' had 40now Im internally panicking and thinking I need more !!! :rotfl:
Right better get on have good days all and stay warm xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Been up and awake since silly o'clock as usual and not even any internet to pass the time on. Broadband down, as was catch up on tv. I rang Virgin at a civilised time and eventually it got sorted and I got reconnected again. I still have the new box and modem to connect but it looks so daunting I have just left it all in the box for now! I am not in a good place right now with too many worries and thoughts bogging me down and I can't cope with yet another problem if I can't do it.
No snow here yet but I am more worried about the freezing rain and the black ice that is forecast. The DGDs are in two performances of the panto today and I am already worrying about DD having to drive home from Bradford later tonight with such atrocious road conditions.
No idea what I am doing today. If I make lists of jobs I feel such a failure when I don't do any of them.
Have a good day all if weather permits and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Mrs TA honey don't fret if things don't get done life is still raw to you sweetie and no one expects miracles of you Your family are there to help you cope and accept any offers going its baby steps for awhile I know I have been where you are and know how everything at times feels just like too much of a chore. So you are not a failure you are grieving which is a normal process. As I have always said its akin to breaking a leg , you will limp a bit at times, but you will walk again.
Look after yourself and be gentle with what you do ,one day at a time as you have to take time to heal.
Hugs to you and your family as this time of the year its a very emotional time anyway

Morning
Late for me today I woke at the usual 5 but made myself stay there till i fell asleep again.
Sounds like some of you are knocking yourself out for this "joyous" occasion. Hope it comes up to expectations :A Im still swerving it nicely bar a few necessary presents.
Tru sounds to me like scampi is looking for a place on Santas nice list
OL Jam with the bread eh? clearly showing off :rotfl:
silver_oldie I dread to think how miserable the party will be if the other guests are similar to mum.
Specky is it man flu though that is the question
Hope everyone is staying indoors and safe today this freezing rain forecast sounds lethal for driving and walking
Had a lovely lunch out yesterday and it was a real bargain with a 25% voucher I had. I am a little bit addicted to sea bass at the moment so I indulged that with all the gubbins a poached egg and a glass of wine all for £8
Out again today for lunch again different place different group though. my social life is like buses nothing then 3 meals on consecutive days.
Today I have my call this morning then lunch then home to a film probably. I will grab some sausages out of the freezer to make some pigs in blankets and probably a sausage sandwich or two
Right time for a pint of tea enjoy your days everyone0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Thank you Tru......
I was awake in the night for a couple of hours, woke again at 7.30 coughing, so made myself lemon honey and hot water, then snuggled down for a bit longer. OH woke and took his morning pill and promptly went back to sleep again.
Yesterdays lunch was lovely, the place was almost full, just enough room for the 'servers' to get theirs. We did not stay for the childrens carols, it was too cold in the chapel to sit.
Quiet day today, may spend some time on the machine, will see how I feel.
We have had a frost but not as bad as Thursday night........OH has been complaining the expensive min/max thermometer he bought was bust, actually it needed a new battery......I replace it and then promptly dropped it on the carpet, its ok phew!! He complained it was showing too high a temperature, well of course it is, its showing the temperature in the house, not outside..... I do sometimes wonder........
We will be having egg and chips tonight, after two days of eating out we need simple food, apart from which we need to eat early so I can watch SCD.0 -
Morning all from a very wet Wales.
Now before you all call the men in white coats to get me removed I do know it's Saturday, but we are having a Sunday today :rotfl:. Dad is coming over for a roast lunch, if he decides to come out in this weather and then staying for tea, as we won't be available tomorrow because Mr Fix It and I have been invited to a party _party_.
So on the menu today is the rest of the turkey, roasties, parsnips, honey carrots, cauliflower and gravy. Tea will be sandwiches or maybe toasties with a lemon sponge for after.
Nothing much else will get done today except filling and emptying the DW.
TA baby steps my friend. Special hugs winging their way to you.
SilverOldie extra hugs to get you through today.
Thinking of Poppy, Holly and of course my Welsh butty, taff .
I hope everyone stays safe and warm and I'm off to do the veg preps.
Sending everyone good vibrations and gentle hugs. TTFN
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Went to the village carol service yesterday, lovely but freezing despite the heating being on for 24 hours.Going out for a bar snack shortly with a couple of friends, still cold and wet but no snow,
OL I was part of a blended family for many years and in the end put down some house rules such as " our house our rules" It helped a bit to say don't come if you can't do it for one day!0 -
Mr AOD has returned from hunter gathering with loads of Y'S things. Among these was a humungous piece of haddock for me, he's cut that up into several normal sized portions for freezing, a massive piece if beef at half price, again to be cut into two, one joint for tomorrow and the other for the freezer and several bags of ham, I have never tried freezing ham but should be ok. It is proper ham, not slimy packet ham.
Tru, I'm v impressed with your Scamp, he's really changed in your description of his behaviour, he must be much less scared of the world.
TA I'm sure people don't expect you to do all the things that you might have done before your dear Bob's death, it won't be easy and everyone will understand that.
I must write a birthday card and totter off to the postbox with it now, because it looks a bit threatening outside and although it isn't a long walk, it feels like a much longer distance in bad weather. I found my gloves earlier and then I found the ones that I lost before so now I have lots.
Later I might look for the fairy lights and stuff. Then again, I usually don't decorate until the Saturday before Christmas so it isn't that urgent.
I am wrapped in many layers but still cold, to the point where my sinuses are painful, might have to add second socks.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good afternoon everyone, brrrr it's cold with icy rain here in central Scotland. Definitely get that second pair of socks on, a very good idea! I have a pair of sheepskin slippers from a business in Cornwall which are absolute bliss. They were expensive but must be about 10 years old and still fit for wear, lovely and cosy. 2 degrees outside here, and the storage heating is coping - I wouldn't say the flat's warm, but it's not chilly either.
Good Scampi, what a turn around, long may it last.
Glad you got home Gers and can have a cosy day.
Hugs to Holly, Poppy, taff and anyone else feeling under pressure right now.
I totally agree with the sentiments expressed in JackieO's lovely message to you, TA. Take things as easy as you can.
More knitting this afternoon for me, with some music on. Food today - I've just scarfed the remains of a casserole which has done three meals. Just the job on a cold winter's day.
The cat has arrived on my lap, so the knitting can wait awhile
Keep cosy xxx0 -
After turning down a Christmas tree from a neighbour the other day, he's now turned up with this offering:
:rotfl: Practically perfect! I'll go out later into the back barn for the miserly decorations. For now it's on the window ledge - there's one splendid cone still attached.
There's icy rain here, earlier it was driving horizontally across past the house. I'm cosy, as you can see the woodburner is going well and I've got plenty of wood indoors now.
I'm going to watch the Ipcress File later with my feet up on the sofa.0
