O/S Daily Saturday 15th December 2018
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Pitch black, blustery wind here this morning, not raining as yet, but it is forecast.
DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas, I'm showered, dressed and just finished my brekkie, I'm working this morning.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, coleslaw for the menfolk, I had jacket potato, spag hoops in tomato sauce and salad. Tonight it'll be curry and rice, need to purchase some naans and/or poppadums.
This afternoon we're going to visit DH's grandad and take his xmas gift and card.
Yesterday I was productive again and didn't seem to stop all day, I just went from doing one job on the list to another, but am pleased to say I'm in a much better position than I was 2 days ago, I'm not completely ready by any means but in a much better place. I seem to have spent a fortune and not got that much to show for it, everything seems to have risen in price again.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, it's a frosty one here.
Thanks for starting off nmlc
I've been awake since ridiculous o' clock worrying about a situation caused by a family member. I know that worrying does no good, but that's never stopped us doing it!
We went to Metro Centre yesterday. Gers, you were saying that you weren't keen on it, I have a couple of friends who don't like it, they prefer to be outside in a city centre.
Anyway, it was quite busy, but we managed to get everything on the list,. I treated myself to a black leather handbag from TK M*xx, it's really nice and will last me for years,
We were quite glad to get home, we left there at about 2pm and the traffic was building up, pleased we didn't leave any later.
Two friends came round last night and we put the world to rights, well, somebody has to.
We've been invited to a local pub tonight, one of our friends is 70 today. His wife died at the beginning of this year, so he doesn't want a party, cards or presents, just a few friends meeting up, and listening to the live music that'll be on.
I think I'll nip out this morning for a small shop, before the forecasted awful weather starts
Speky, sounds as if you're heading for flu, hope you look after yourself.
TA, you seem busy as usual, it's lovely that you're posting, I know that it can't be easy for you trying to resume normal life.

Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square

I bought a bag of 60 frozen mini sausage rolls. Well I thought I did, but it turned out to be a bag of 90. Not a problem, they'll all be eaten, everyone here loves them. But sometimes they sell out and I'd forgotten that I'd bought some already, just in case. Twice. So I have 210 cocktail sausage rolls for Christmas Eve. I hope everyone's hungry :rotfl:
Scamp was happy to have his coat on yesterday and walked nicely with a little bounce in his step while wagging his tail. Glanced at me a bit nervously when he saw a stranger, I said 'oh, he's fine' (fine is one of our new words, lol) and he ignored the man as we walked past him. His tail was still wagging when we got home, he waited nicely while I took his coat off then he went to the mat to eat his bonio. I just stood looking at him in a state of shock
It's cold here but no frost, it's supposed to rain later so I'll be snuggled on the sofa for the afternoon again. I might watch a festive film, I didn't get to it yesterday because I checked the film channels and Battleship was about to start so I watched that insteadFirst though, housework

Morning, another cold one. I try not to put the heating on until around lunchtime but I may not last that long today.
I have all sorts to do today but not housework, I managed to do that yesterday though I continue, as ever, to deal with a mountain of washing.
Sending positive thoughts go all those who need them.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off nmlc
Keep hoping to see Dear Holly posting, sending hugs.
Didn't get to sleep until the early hours again and awake at silly o'clock, seems every night now.
Christmas party at mother's care home this afternoon, families and friends invited. It will be very hot and the music is always so loud, not really looking forward to it.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning All
I woke up really, really early (4.30) so have cleaned the downstairs bathroom including polishing the tiles, taken everything off the tops of the kitchen cupboards, cleaned and put everything back, washed my bedding and emptied the dishwasher. I'm sure I'll have a dip around 11!
I need to go and get some kitchen chairs this morning, the outside wicker ones were a temporary measure 2 years ago but they are so heavy and take up too much room. Wanted some from Argoos but they are either out of stock or the delivery is when I'm not in. Ikea it is then, may see if they have any Christmas trees left although I doubt I'll get one in the car!
Got home in the daylight yesterday for a change, builder came to look at the fridge door, it's the hinge and someone came to collect a freegle item. I collapsed in a heap after I'd deep cleaned the upstairs bathroom.
So much to do and so little time!!
It's cold out and freezing rain and snow is forecast so I'll do all I need to this morning then back to the cleaning.
My thoughts are with those with worries or are poorly, have a good weekend if you can. Take care. XX0 -

 already! Hunker down Camelot. Mind you, snow is preferable to going to ikea on a Saturday morning.
Good morning folks.
The snow hasn't reached here yet, though if it's with Camelot then it's may be on the way. It doesn't often snow here on the coast but it makes us locked in. I'm glad I drove home yesterday. I've turned on the electric radiator upstairs for a wee while to take the chill off.
Tru - anothe lovely wee tune, thanks. And a well behaved Scamp too!
I've no idea what I'm doing today, I'm not usually here on a Saturday. I certainly won't be as 'energetic' enough to deep clean anything! Last night I indulged in my first glass(es) of wine in weeks and weeks which I thoroughly enjoyed. Won't have more until next year now. I'd also bought some duck spring rolls from W aitrose which were such a disappointment, very bland.
I've got books to read, recordings to watch and sleep to catch up on. Is that a plan? :rotfl:
Keep safe and warm everyone. Happy Saturday.0 -
Morning all,
Woke up at 6.30 with blocked sinuses and a bad headache, my fault for thinking a bowl of ice-cream followed by a glass of Baileys is a good ideaTook some tabs and went back to bed for an hour.
It’s v cold here and with a feels like temp of -5 I’m glad I exercised Lu yesterday, managed about 20 mins with my knee so pleased with that. I do want to get out to the farm shop to pick up a few bits of meat for the freezer and equine girlie needs more carrots, there is a man just down the road that sells a big net for £2.
What a good boy Scampi x
Hope you have been looking after yourself Speky, does sound rather like you have flu.
Thinking of Holly x
Get well wishes to all poorlies and have a good day folks x0 -
Goodmorning chums ,brr but its nippy this morning Looked out of the window and decided I shall bake this morning ,nothing to buy as all the presents are bought and wrapped thank goodness. No food shopping to buy either as I shall be away too-ing and fro-ing between my DDs for about 10 days so I am using up as much of the fresh stuff in my fridge as possible.
Went to London on the train yesterday with DGS Jack so he could have his passport interview ,all went well, and apparently the lady who interviewed him went to the same Uni as he does. It should arrive within a week-ten days .That was his main Christmas present, but I have got him a few small things to open on Christmas day as well.
Sleet is forecast, with wind and rain to follow, so I shall stay indoors in the warm I think. I will have my book club book to listen to as this month I got the audio versionso I can multi-task as I will be baking some biscuits for the boys for tomorrow and probably some sausage rolls as well.
Speky is definitely sounds like a dose of 'flu honey ,lots of fluids and stay in the warm and pamper yourself
Hugs to all who are feeling unwell or down at the moment
Keep indoors if you can and stay warm and well
JackieO xx0
