Where to start with this one?

I mentioned on another thread that Orange made me no retention offer so my Orange contract number was transferred to an Orange PAYG and a PAC code requested. Pac code never arrived so I phoned them and they made me an offer to go back to contract and keep my existing number and I agreed. Got the new phone yesterday and phoned up to register it and to have my PAYG number moved across.

The telephone conversation was difficult and a little laboured as they couldn't seem to grasp what had happened. However after a lot of uber politeness from the call centre (they kept apologising and calling me 'm'am like the queen) I was told the new phone was registered and I was put through to a UK call centre to transfer my number back. That seemed to go smoothly and I was told that my PAYG sim would die and then a few minutes afterwards the new contract sim would go live with my old number.

Fine, PAYG sim died but contract number still not active. If I phone 'my number' it shows as a non valid number. I've tried phoning out from the contract number and can make only emergency calls and nothing else.

Should I start panicking yet..or should I stay nice and calm until Orange open their telephone lines and i can call them?

Have you tried switching it off and then back on again? You may need to receive SIM updates and even if you have it may need to be power cycled to activate them.

I did all that but phone completely dead. I got through to Orange who tried the port again without success, but have just had another go for me and all is now fine.

    Breathing a sigh of relief...
