The calling up letter I received recently was addressed to the tenant or occupier. It's not illegal to open post anyways if there is a reason of suspicion. I hadn't recognised the names on the letter and would like to protect myself from fraud.
I've since called the lender, the rental agency as well as shelter.
There's so many incorrect assumptions on here. I apologise if I had come of the incorrect way however I very proactive with my credit history and so on but I have no idea about rental laws in Scotland and was feeling quite worried and confused.0 -

No, it's been correctly delivered, by being delivered to the address stated on the item. That's exactly what the postie is meant to do. The offences in that Act are to do with interference with the mail while it's in the postal system. Once the postie has put it through the correct letterbox, that's the end of the matter as far as this Act is concerned. It may of course still be possible to commit the crimes of theft, fraud etc, but merely opening the letter isn't an offence.0
