For anyone considering a new bank account, you can't do much worse than Alliance & Leicester who have an excellent 6.5% AER on their Premier Direct Current Account. And as an extra incentive, their Recommend a Friend scheme gives you the opportunity to earn £40 just for joining.

...I have listed this auction on ebay:<snip>
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=513795&page=4
Furthermore, we don't charge 99p for it either!
Just so you know where to pitch your offer, the people on here actually pay the people who are being referred. The current going rate for this offer is £30, meaning new account holders get £70...not £39.010 -
You seem to have missed a major part of the listing (see below). I didn't ask for 99p.
There really was no need for your sarcasm, I'm not a regular here so wasn't aware of this referral scheme. I just posted this here for those who didn't know any A&L current account holders - like me when I first joined this bank. I missed out on this for both myself and someone else. Please consider your tone when replying to others.
From my ebay listing:
"P.S. The "Buy It Now" price is listed as 99p, but I don't expect any payment of this."

By the way, I'd like to add I'm new at this type of thing and really don't appreciate your lack of friendliness.
This was my first attempt. If I didn't achieve any success I planned to offer £10 of my share back to the person I'd referred, plus another £10 to nominated charity. You seemed quick to judge me and I really resent that.0 -
I had a look at your listing at Ebay. Well, not for me...I certainly will not click on any link from an email who claimed they were from a BANK.
By the way, if I don't pay you 99p, will you leave me a negative feedback? You are entitled to. So I will be running another risk on my feedback sheet.
Thanks, but again not for me.
By the way, I did get £50 by using Quidco months ago.

In 3 very easy steps:
1) Click "Buy It Now" on this auction page
2) Contact me and provide your first name and your email address
3) Wait for an email from Alliance & Leicester, and use the link that they provide to open your account
NB: You must open your account using the link in their email for the claim to be processed!0 -
Claiming I was from a bank!!!!!!!!??!?!?!
Please READ! (I have highlighted in red the parts that makeit obvious I'm not from this bank!) I absolutely detest being accused of trying to mislead people! Honestly! Please, if you're not interested in this auction then ignore this thread! Also, even if you paid 99p I could STILL leave negative feedback. It's unlikely I would, my feedback stats are good.
"3) Wait for an email from Alliance & Leicester, and use the link that they provide to open your account"
"NB: You must open your account using the link in their email for the claim to be processed!"
"Your account will be opened and credited with £40 (in my experience within a couple of weeks), and as a fellow A&L customer I will also earn £40."

What you haven't put in your auction, as far as I can see, is that anyone who applies must also fund their account with at least £500 a month (or £250 for the under-21 account).0
-
Again...why should people choose to receive £40 rather than £50 and pay you 99p?
This site is for helping people. Although I am not interested in your auction I can't ignore this thread!
I can't see people will be benefited from your thread really.
Why did you said "Also, even if you paid 99p I could STILL leave negative feedback."? Do you always do that? You don't sound honest to me.0 -
And again to you.... I stated in the listing (twice) that 99p was not required or expected. There are similar ebay listings to mine which work the same way (2 others). On ebay you can't list an item without a price, and for some reason I couldn't list it for 1p.
As for £50 instead of £40, I don't see what your point is. I have not lied or intended to mislead anyone but for some reason there are a few bitter and judgemental people here with too much time on their hands (but not enough time to even read things properly!)
No I don't leave or intend to leave negative feedback. I was making a point (that you appear to have completely missed) that even if a buyer pays in an auction they could still receive negative feedback. The whole point of ebay is trust and community. If you check my ebay rating you will see that I have over 94% rating. 37 members have left me a positive, and 2 a negative. In those 2 cases I complained about being ripped off for postage, and a guy who I realised was bidding on his own auctions. I am offended if somebody accuses me of being dishonest, especially since there is no basis for this and plenty of evidence to the contrary.
P.S. Edited this about 10 times because I'm so offended by all of this. Please do not reply.0 -

Hi Lavendyr, rather than paste all of the info about the account and the deal, I used a link to a page on their website which has full details of terms and conditions.

Hi Chris,
First off I can see that you feel people on this board have been unfriendly towards you and I'm sorry that, as a newcomer, you have got that impression as this board and forum as a whole is generally full of friendly people who are happy to help (including those on this thread.)
In general I have nothing against people who try to refer others to things via ebay as not everyone knows of the existence of this site's referral board where you can get a better deal and those auctioning referrals off are just trying to make some money for themselves while helping people to get what they believe is a good deal at the same time. This sort of thing is fine on Ebay as Ebay is an auction site designed to help people make money whereas this site is designed to help people save money so if you post something on it that is not a good deal people are going to point that out to you. Posters are also bound to be suspicious as we have had many people in the past tout for A&L referrals on this board and it can become very irritating.
The main problem that exists with your post, however, is the fact that it's against MSE rules to post links to your own ebay auctions on this site. I understand that you are a newbie and have posted in good faith but it's always important before posting on any forum to read the rules to avoid these kind of situations. The pertinent rule is posted below:Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts. This includes posting links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.
If someone appears to be selling items on the board it may be deleted by the board guides/forum team. The aim is to protect site users as however honourable the intention, your safety is paramount.
The full forum rules can be found HERE and the section pertaining to this thread can be found HERE. It would be a good idea to delete the link by editing your post or I'm sure a mod will do it at some point. This site is a very good site if you use it for the purposes it was created and I hope you continue to post in that vein.
Regards
