Compelled to go to other platform to buy ticket

Definitely not any Freeman woowoo. I readily accept that the rules exist and that insofar as they apply to everyone, they apply to me. I have no problem with the use of capital letters.
:D
But if, as with speed cameras and private parking sharks, the railways are determined to hammer people, then you can bet people will start looking for loopholes.
BTW I had a ticket, but I use the trains rarely and have only this last time noticed an additional proliferation of signage and a stated determination to make passengers jump through hoops.0 -

Speed cameras only catch people who break the law, they are easily avoidable. In this instance you are saying people are hammering you for making you walk to another platform if you want a physical ticket rather than buying online.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The only hoop you have to jump through is that you have to buy a valid ticket and take it with you when you travel! It's not a difficult concept!0

But where the law is badly drafted, or the authorities have not correctly adhered to the law themselves eg through non-compliant signage, the accused will be acquitted.
Talking of freemen on the land, there's one particular genuine Freeman (Nick, "Mr Loophole") who's made an entire career out of the authorities' sloppiness and incompetence.0 -

Except that your statement is not true. There are many circumstances in which you do not have to buy a valid ticket and take it with you.0
