@Coupon-mad I live close to Heathrow so would take me a few hours by the tube to get there for 10am.

     19th March.
Right, so can you attend at 10am on that date?  Will it take you hours, bearing in mind you really need to get there half an hour early to get through security, sign in with the Usher and read through your case file?

If it is so out of reasonable reach, then write to tell the Judge that you cannot attend and could the Court issue Directions, and confirm that they will:

either: hear the case on the papers in your absence ('papers' will be your defence, WS and your evidence file - these must be really strong if you are to have any chance to win AND will need filing and serving by next week!)...

or: consolidate the two hearings, because the Claimant has filed two near-identical claims, putting you to considerable stress and costs, and that case has been adjourned until 13th August 2020 at 1000 AM 'due to lack of Judicial resources' at your local court, which makes it impossible for you to access the justice you deserve.

Ask that the two claims be consolidated and both 10am hearings vacated and relisted for an alternative date, so that both claims are heard together, and if this cannot be at xxxxxxxxx court local to you, then you respectfully ask for a 2pm slot at the RCJ, because you simply cannot get across London from Heathrow area to sign in and get through security in time.

Send that now and ask for a reply by return as you are unsure whether to send your witness statement and evidence next week, given the hearings are 6 months apart and both at an unreachable court for 10am.

@Coupon-mad thank you for replying.  I 'could' get there for 10am but its a tight squeeze especially as I have to drop my daughter to school and then rush across London to arrive for 09:30.  Its doable but not at all practical!
I will write to the Court requesting the latter as I am by no means at all confident that my WS is strong: or: consolidate the two hearings, because the Claimant has filed two near-identical claims, putting you to considerable stress and costs, and that case has been adjourned until 13th August 2020 at 1000 AM 'due to lack of Judicial resources' at your local court, which makes it impossible for you to access the justice you deserve.
    Thank you

@Coupon-mad, @nosferatu1001 @Redx @Le_Kirk I hope you are well during these trying and extraordinary times but I ask this question as I know you will be able to give sound advice!!  My second duplicate case is on April 15th, I still haven't heard back from either Court regarding consolidating and its impossible to get through on the phone.  Amidst all this crisis we are going through I have just realised that I am probably too late to now submit my WS for this second case!!!???  This had totally been forgotten by myself and I am at my wits end.  I haven't got a printer at home, have been told to work from home by my Employer, Libraries are now closed etc.  How am I to submit my WS now and also travel into London for this court case on the 15th April? I don't know what to do, and fear that I have now screwed this up as I haven't submitted my WS in time :(

You normally have 14 days prior to the case to submit WS etc., but you might have dates on your letter.  Do you know any kind neighbours or family who could print for you?  Maybe there is a pronta print (or similar) who can print from an e-mail submission and post it back to you.

find a local volunteer with a pc and printer to print it out for you, somebody near you , or a family of friend must have one , I have done some scanning and printing this week for family and my porch became the exchange of documents point , sometimes a local newsagent or similar will print stuff for you , as will a post office

think outside the box in these extraordinary times , including email it to your local court , regardless, in case they are doing a phone hearing as was reported in other threads on here today (or they may adjourn it until may or later)

Submit your WS within a week by post, with a covering note saying you are well but given the current coronavirus advice you expect the hearing to be indefinitely postponed but you are complying with a 14 day deadline and here is your witness statement, evidence and summary costs assessment.

Thank you all for your advice! I am planning on submitting practically the same WS as the first one, as they are duplicate cases anyway so I could possibly use my own copy of case 1 (eg the evidence etc), and change the covering sheet to reflect the correct case number etc.
Does it have to be 14 working days or just 14 days, if its the first then I have already missed this deadline :(
