Fridge Freezer Broken under Warranty

It has, i see no relevance to the OP's questions, do you?

    Yes.

If you read this board you will see that most posters that venture here think a warranty/guarantee and consumer rights are all the same thing. People think they have a 1 year warranty and that means they can get x y or z. They can't, well they can, but only if the warranty says it. If it says you present yourself instore with a pink rose and glass of champagne, then that's what you need to do.....

IMO in this particular case as the OP can't fulfill the warranty stipulations they should be using their consumer rights.

We don't have any costings here but one would assume an American fridge freezer won't be a £100 purchase.

Therefore assuming no warranty (as they don't have a receipt - and the warranty dictates they need one) then an independent report to prove an inherent fault (as the item is out of the 6 month timescale) would be the best way forward. However, the consumer needs to be firm with the vendor* and move forward under their consumer rights.

*A vendor is the seller. The seller is the place you purchased from. If you buy a Sony TV from Sony, then you take your consumer and warranty issues to Sony. If you buy the same TV from John Lewis then your consumer rights are with John Lewis but the warranty (outside of whatever JL give you themselves) will be with Sony.

I have got a copy of the invoice I was originally emailed.

The vendor had originally told me I had to contact the manufacturer. Now they have said the vendor
needs to provide the replacement. As I have been unable to speak to them (I keep being put on hold) I have emailed them with the updated details and I hope to have a response soon.

    Thanks for the advice.
