Nissan Juke 2015

I'm looking to buy a 1.5 dci acenta Nissan Juke
It was registered in March 2015 and has 60k on the clock
My tried and trusted mechanic has suggested that upon purchase I complete the cambelt change which costs around £350
According to Nissan guides , this isnt due until 5 years old or 100k miles so I have a little time
As this conflicts , I am not sure what to do - looking to buy the car this weekend and obviously have to account for the change if its recommended on purchase

I guess its up to you.
If the service guide says five years then I can't seem them giving you a discount just because someone thinks it should be done sooner.
If the servicing shedule is five years I'd either go with that and/or look up the issue on a dedicated Nissan forum to see if anyone has had any issues with the shedule.0 -
Some people, probably including your mechanic, would argue that official service intervals have been stretched beyond what is reasonable in order to attract buyers to vehicles that have apparently lower running costs. These same people would further argue that any cambelt (along with water pump, pulley, tensioner) should be replaced after 5 years/60k miles whichever comes sooner, regardless of manufacturers' official intervals.0

he said to do it for peace of mind , I guess in the wider scheme of things its not a huge cost considering the initial purchase0

If its not recommended by Nissan then I wouldnt offer any discount just because some buyer's mechanic said they should do it 2 years (40,000 miles) early.
Just offer what you think is reasonable and see what he says.0 -
Are you buying privately or from a dealer?
A private seller may be more flexible; a dealer probably won't.0 -
Its a dealership
Its reasonably priced but obviously I want the best price I can get
It was more whether I should listen to the mechanic and have it done or wait until its due by Nissan0 -

Wait until it's due then have it done by your mechanic.0 -
Is it a good car?0

I'm interested to know why a Nissan Juke?
It's not the nicest looking car in the world so it must have other qualities?0 -
Inverse Tardis car.
Massive on the outside, tiny inside.
Built to shield the driver who's literally terrified of getting behind the wheel from the experience as much as possible.0
