It's rubbish, don't bother going imho.
We've been to the museum in Cairo and saw truly wonderful exhibits, none of which are here. In fact, it should be officially investigated for calling itself the treasures of King Tut because virtually all of it is not his. We were disappointed but my 5.5 yo thought it was good. However she hasn't been to Egypt yet so I'm sure she would have a different view if she had.
For the money we paid, it was a rip off. It really seemed like they needed the money for a new museum, thought "I know we'll take to the road again, but hmm, we don't want the treasures to actually leave Egypt, what can we do? I know lets see what crap we have in the basement that isn't good enough to display in the Cairo museum, we'll take that tat!"
Or words to that effect anyway.0 -
I must agree we too were disappointed, the only King Tut relics were in the last room and they were very thin on the ground. I expected to at least see his sarcophagus or death mask, but both were absent.
However, it was a very educational tour and I enjoyed learning more about ancient Egypt than I already knew, and viewing some of the 3000+ year old relics was absolutely awesome.
Just one final tip - I booked a cheaper UB40 ticket but wasn't asked for proof on entry so this could be a way of shaving a few pounds off entry ticket prices“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Haven't been to the exhibition in London, but was in Cairo in Nov and all the best known bits are still there.
When I saw the adverts for the London exhibition I thought they were very misleading as they showed the the death mask - that NEVER left Cairo !
The display in Cairo was breathtaking - the only bad point was the overcrowding inside the museum.0 -
