Baby is coming - New Tenancy

Hello,

hope someone can help me. WE are planning to rent another property. When do i have to inform the Landlord about the Newborn? As at the time of signing the contract and moving in - we are two and later in the year we would be with our newborn. Do i have to state this from the beginning or do i have to inform the LL when the baby is born?

THanks in Advance for your help.

  • None of the landlord's business, you don't have to tell them at all if you don't want to.
  • Congratulations on your new baby!

You don't have to ever (depending on terms of any contract you sign..). But informing some (stupid & discriminatory) agents before moving in may result in no properties being offered, notwithstanding discrimination over pregnancy being illegal.

In your shoes I'd say nothing until moved in.

Remember a landlord can evict you, after initial term, for no reason at all.

Fair enough, but certainly in England or Wales there is no requirement to tell the LL.
