I don't know if you've come across the concept of Highly Sensitive Persons/People (HSPs)? I read an interesting book on making work work: http://www.marykayparkinson.com/hsps-need-meaningful-work/ My local library had it, so you may be able to borrow a copy through the library system.
  • The fitting in socially doesn't bother me that much. I don't enjoy social situations so I just avoid them. However in an office environment I feel trapped. Keeping up conversations and being around people all day just doesn't sit well with me. I think lone working is a good idea.
Interestingly I recently saw an advert for a meeting of highly sensitive people and was intrigued to know what it was.

My dog walker is autistic and won't communicate with me face to face at all. Only by written message or text. She saved up for the proper dog walking van and started her business. Now also has certificates in dog training and some vet nursing stuff as well. My dog thinks she's amazing, and the job must suit her as she doesn't often see owners when she picks up the dogs so no small talk stress ...

If you like animals and are good with them, then why not explore alternative employment. We only live once and no one should be unhappy/.
