But you haven't really said the reasons why you want physical disks rather than using streaming services.
Why do you imagine that this is any of your business?

The OP asked a question about renting physical media, not about the merits of subscribing to streaming services. If that's what you would prefer to discuss, why not start your own thread about it?

I'm not asking them any kind of private information :rotfl:

If they can explain why they prefer physical media and give more information on what they want then people can give them more suggestions on other ways to do it which they might not have considered. That's the purpose of asking a question on a forum so you can discuss the solution.

If the OP simply wanted a list of DVD rental sites then a quick google search gives plenty of articles reviewing the different services available. I assume they posted on a discussion forum so they can have a discussion about it...

Let's say they use cinemaparadiso as suggested and go for the 2 at a time and unlimited a month for £12.98. The most they can get considering postage times will be around 24 a month and they would have to watch them right away and send them back the next day so it's all a bit rushed and not very convenient. This is also costing them over 50p per film.
Compare this to my charity shop example where the films cost 33p each and you get to keep them and watch them at leisure then this might be a far better solution.
But without asking questions we wouldn't know so to pull me up for asking a question on a discussion forum is quite frankly ridiculous!. :rotfl:

I believe the OP was quite clear on what he wanted from this thread ;)
I know i could hop on Google but with bogus sites out there i want to try avoid getting from somewhere that appears decent but isn't.

We used to be Lovefilm members years ago but then it got shut down. I know streaming is a thing these days but i'd prefer not to.

Just looking if anyone can recommend a good quality website that is on the lines of what Lovefilm was - order your DVDs/Blu-rays, get them in the post, watch them & return them, job done.
And he got the answer to his simple request.

Maybe this forum is different to others but personally i think a discussion forum should be used to discuss the topic at hand. The OP may have started the thread but it doesn't mean they are the master and choose what is and isn't discussed as this may interest other people too.

If people want to ask basic questions and then have simple answers and the thread ends i wouldn't even bother posting as it would be very boring.

Don't get me wrong, it is a public forum and we're all entitled to make our opinion heard but to continually question the OP's reasoning of why he doesn't want to do something and the benefits of that thing when they've made it perfectly clear it holds no interest is perhaps a step too far.

Cinema Paradiso is as far as I know the only remaining business that offers what you are looking for.

I see your point and in a way i agree, but overall i'd have to disagree with you.

If this thread went 10 pages long and everyone was discussing streaming but i'm still sat here waiting on an answer to my question then that's just wrong. You all have a 'create thread' button on your screens too - go create a thread to discuss streaming, there's nothing stopping you & go ahead and make it 10 pages long, no problem.

I'm here wanting to know about disc rental though, not streaming.

    Another scenario -

there's a group of you. 1 person begins the chat & says any idea what the weather is going to be like tomorrow? The rest of you immediately start talking about the floods on the news a few years back. Remember this, remember that, yada yada yada. All the while the original guy hasn't had an answer to his question.

But at least you're talking about the weather, right? I mean, it's sort of relevant isn't it? It's close enough?

But it's not right though is it.

To be fair in my first post on this thread my suggestion to you was to visit a charity shop and buy the DVD's and i showed how that would be cheaper than any rental service and you get to keep them!. So it actually meets your requirements of having physical disks and offer better value for money.

Cinemaparadiso was then suggested in post #8 which is basically the best/only option for an online rental service.

So considering your question was answered i don't see any problem with the discussion about streaming that followed.

Personally i would have also liked to discuss my charity shop idea to see how DVD's were priced in other charity shops but nobody seemed to like the idea :p

I don't know if you have large charity shops but here the option of charity shop vs cinemaparadiso would be say a choice of 10 vs a choice of 90000 or however many is on there. :) In other words you'd be pretty lucky to get what you want from a charity shop.

eBay may be worth a shout but then if you're buying it depends on how many as to which is cheaper.

But if he's actually at the international flood recovery conference which is meeting to discuss those floods, he might realise that every conversation is going to involve that subject.

This is the "Techie stuff" board on a site dedicated to saving money. If you're asking for advice on outdated technology that costs more money, and refusing to justify your reason for doing so, you're bound to have to put up with some attempts at persuasion!
