Received mine yesterday, spent around £300 in Coop mainly and got £15 cashback. Ring them and query it.

Mine was used for food only in Somerfield, Sainsburys and Tesco and the cashback amount is 5% of the total.

I had the same problem, spent £200 at Asda and only 56p cashback credit. I rang them yesterday and said that a manager will call me back.
  • just had my first bill - cash back works out to approx 3% - but
it could be that I have 5% from the Tesco's and Sainsbury's items
and 0% from Asda - looks like I need to make a phone call.

Still awaiting my registration details so that i can use the online facilities.
They seem very slow at responding.

I applied for online access during the postal strike and nothing ever came of it. Cant really be bothered now though as only 2 more statements till the cashback finishes and I cancel the card.

Finally got my Abbey Card today. First they turned me down ! I have no debts and other cards, so I wrote back and asked why.

Then after a few weeks they said the would conditionally give me a card! How nice of them

Then a few weeks later the card arrives with a limit of £1000 . I regularly spend twice this and settle up each month. I phoned up and asked why so low? They said I had to be with them 6 months before they review my credit limit. A bit late then as the 5% ends in January.
Are Abbey trying to reduce the amount they pay out? Delay the card issue and give credit limits so low you can't possibly make the £50 out of them.
What do you get after January could not see that written anywhere?

Why not just make extra payments to your card throught the month? That way you will continually have enough available credit to make use of.

If abbey are like most other credit card companies then they should allow you to make additional debit card payments at any time.

I don't mean to sound like I'm being picky here... but isn't the deal 5% cash back on purchases at supermarkets? (That's from memory if I'm correctly remembering the adverts).

If so... 5% of £1000 is £50 (which is the maximum cash back you can get?). So even with your credit limit of £1000 it's quite feasable that you could get the full amount of cash back available.
