This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning, I woke at 2.30 and got up at 3 as I couldn't get back to sleep. I think I'll perhaps watch some rubbish tv, make a bear and go back to bed later.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone :santa2:
I couldn't sleep so I thought I would start us off this morning. I have had a horrible weekend unfortunately with Steve and Lilly having a big bust up on Friday night. She walked out and I was frantic especially as she had nowhere to go and the weather was dreadful. Steve was crying, the other kids were in shock and I felt so upset myself.
To be honest it had been brewing for a while as Lilly and Steve do not get on at the best of times as they are both very stubborn characters and neither of them will back down. Anyway, she came home a few hours later and has since stayed in her bedroom apart from coming to get some food. The atmosphere here is awful but I am hopeful that now they have both had time to cool down a truce will be held for Christmas.
After all that drama, my diet has gone to hell so I am giving up now until the New Year. Lee wants to start on his Christmas baking so I will be giving him a hand with that. We have shopping coming later with some lovely ingredients in so he can crack on with it whenever he wants to.
A nurse is coming later on today to do my dressings, I didn't have the scan after all on Friday so I don't know what is happening with that. The chemist can't find my prescription either so I need to ring up later and track it down.
It is my friend's birthday today so I will give her a ring when it is a more appropriate hour. She came over a few days ago so I gave her a card and a couple of small gifts but it will be the only thing she will have to open as since she has been put on Universal Credit, they have been poor as church mice and they have no spare money for anything other than absolute essentials. She cannot afford to buy any Christmas presents or get any special food in so she is feeling quite depressed about the whole Christmas period. I want to help her out but it would change the dynamic of our friendship and I love her so much I would hate to lose her as a friend. It's complicated.
Right, I have bored on for long enough! I'm off to make a cup of tea and watch some rubbish on the tv. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
Well that was a weekend and a half! Staff night out on Friday was really good but wearing heels and throwing myself around the dance floor has resulted in a sore back!
DS1 and the DGC arrived on Saturday morning, we went to a Christmas fair, made Christmas decorations and DGD and myself went to the panto which I really enjoyed especially as my neighbour was the dame - hilarious. DGD had a great time too, really got involved.
Sunday was a walk and dinner, DD came over then a friends DD to see the children, they eventually went home about 3pm and after clearing up I sunk into a chair!
Sorry to hear of the argument dumpling, sometimes better to have everything out in the open.
Sounds like you had a fab holiday bella.
Hugs to the poorlies and carers.
Back to the grind today, may go and get the last Christmas present after work then everything is done, just the food to organise for the hoards.
Have a happy Monday, take care. XX0 -
Dumpling, I hope things improve for Steve and Lilly.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Morning folks and thanks BELLA for the early start. Sorry to hear there has been family friction DUMPLING. It's upsetting for everyone in the family when that happens.
I had a very restless night, as usual. My hair bears testament to that as it's stuck up on end!
I am dithering about what to do today! Our M & S closed down last Spring and I have never stopped missing popping in for odd bits from the Food Hall. So I am half thinking I may get the bus to Ilkley where there is a biggish Food Hall and see what naughty but nice things I can get as Christmas gifts for DB and family.. It seems an easier option than trawling numerous gift shops and coming out empty handed. I am sure people will understand my heart isn't in it this Christmas.
A bit of internet banking to do and my repeat prescription to order and then I will get myself moving. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking especially of HOLLY, POPPY, TAFF. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Wow, quite a few of us are awake early. I slept till about 4.30, and have not been back to sleep.
Holly, wishing you a better day today. Hugs for all feeling down or under the weather, or dealing with family tensions. There's less scope in the cold dark months for having a breather by going for a walk or even into the garden, and home can feel like a powder keg or a pressure cooker while emotions are high. It can be very uncomfortable for everyone.
The turkey mince was curried, and will do me tonight as well. The soup making got postponed till today, and I beavered on with the knitting. I also had two long catch up phone calls with friends. I'm concerned about another pal who didn't respond to a text query yesterday, and will try phoning her today.
Otherwise, it's a tidy up day and definitely a swim this afternoon. The swim routine when possible will be Monday Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Last yoga class of the year tomorrow evening.
Speky, I hope your weekend went well. I hope everyone's weekend went well, but I remember moving to a different city and it takes a while to find your bearings. It's great you're using sport to make connections.
All good wishes to everyone for the best day possible. xxx0 -
Morning everyone
bellabella - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, damp and air feels cold.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 and DS2 still in their pits, DS1 has a days' holiday today - so he's making the most of a lie-in, as did I for a few minutes extra this morning, although now I'm showered, dressed and just finished eating my porridge. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he's going for a run but not until it gets light.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, peas, HG sprouting broc, yorkshires and gravy, choc birthday cake for dessert. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
We were lazy yesterday - I just prepped and cooked the lunch, DS2 was sous chef - then we watched tv, DS1 had visit from my sis to bring him a birthday prezzie, and he had several telephone calls.
Back to work today - hoping the technology won't let us down as it's the time in the month where info has gone out which always generates enquiries - can't help people without the systems for us to use! - frustrating!
Keep safe and well x

Today will be a mix of work, tinsel, walking and housework. All arranged around a delivery which should be arriving todayI was worried about missing it but I've just checked my emails and it's being delivered by Royal Mail, my postman always comes at the same time so I'll delay our walk for a bit and wait for him. I was going to have a lazy couple of hours then start my day when mr tru leaves for work, but I'll get the work things ready as soon as I've posted this. I'll do the housework while I wait for the post and have a shower after it's arrived. Then walk, work, and a bit of tinselating. I'm aiming to be sat back down by 3pm

Morning all.
Sorry to see that so many are having difficulties sleeping. I sleep like a log almost all the time though always wake about 6'ish, no matter what.
Back to work later this morning, only for two hours, then I've got a couple of people to visit briefly. There's some paperwork to get done which I can zip through.
Tensions in families are always tough, especially when teenagers are involved. Hugs to Dumpling.
Happy Monday to everyone.0
