Direct Debit Abbreviation

Hello all,
I switched banks using the switching service and recieved confirmation that all direct debits had been successfully transferred to the new Yorkshire Bank Account.
One of those direct debits has not been taken and is now listed as "D D SUSP A/C" which I assume means the direct debit has been suspended (Eeven though listed as 'active'). Staff in branch were unable to tell me what or why the abbreviation has been applied but they did say the Originator has never requested any money from the new account. Before I go any further with the bank or originator of the Direct Debit can anbyone please tell me what this abbreviation means and why it would have been applied?
Before anyone jumps to any conclusions, yes there are more than sufficient funds in my account to cover the outgoing direct debits!
Thank you

I am guessing but it could be a suspense account which is an account in which items are entered temporarily before allocation to the correct or final account.0

More likely to mean 'Direct Debit Suspense Account' than 'suspended'. I wonder whether this bank handles its transferred DDrs initially by routing them through a suspense account until they get everything in place. Have the other transferred DDrs (which don't show up in this manner) been paid out since the switch?
Just a guess but probably not something to worry about. Ask them.0 -
If the branch staff were unable to tell you that it means Suspense Account I'd be seriously considering moving again to a bank that trains their staff better. The suspense account concept is one that anyone working in a banking role should know, even if they can't explain precisely what it means in this context.0

Thanks for the replies, yes all other standing orders and direct debits have been ok.
When I got a letter from the Bank initially it said it had completed all direct debit transfers, I would have expected that to show up as the suspense account at that point.
Is it my bank or the originator that has changed it to the suspense account? Are any charges or indeed defaults on my credit file I may receive because of this error covered by the switching guarantee?
Im a bit concerned that it may affect my credit file and score as the direct debit guarantee statement doesn't specifically mention this.
And yes, I was a bit shocked tje bank staff couldn't explain the abbreviation either!0 -
What is the DD meant to be about? I.e. which of the services that you pay for by DD has not been paid? I suppose you made a note of your DDs (and SOs, and your balance) before the switch happened?0
-
It was for a credit card monthly payment - yes I had a list of Dd's and So's and this was confirmed by Yorkshire Bank in their welcome pack0

Is this a credit card at a different bank or also at YB? The usual process is for payments to a credit card to go to a special type of account called a collection account before being allocated to your card, and it's possible that for some reason YB refer to this as a suspense account.0
-
No its a bank of scotland card, so nothing to do with YB or that banking group as far as I know?
Im more concerned about any impact it may have on my credit rating until its sorted0 -
Ignore for now what the designation on YB says, the important thing is to speak to BOS to find out why they haven't taken the DD (I assume that you had a statement to say that there was an amount to be taken). They have probably messed up and not properly applied the new account details to your card account - while it is YB's responsibility under CASS to resolve that it might be a lot quicker to just ring BOS.0

This is normal and the name will reflect correctly after the first payment is taken.urs sinserly,
