Back to say the Sunday stroll was idyllic, and thanks Gers for the hap up warm advice. We saw a swan family whose young had been fluffy balls in the summer, four cygnets out of five have survived. Beautiful.
I'm envious of those who can multitask while knitting! My lifelong hearing loss requires me to focus on lip-reading and subtitles to the exclusion of anything else. I simply cannot divide my attention, it's either do one thing (watch the screen) or the other (knit). It's the same with conversation, I can focus on one person at a time, and nothing else exists, someone could be doing something outrageous nearby and I simply wouldn't notice. The police would never want me as a witness!
So it's knitting for me this afternoon while the light's good: I'm building up stripes of colour and it's easier to see what looks good in daylight.
I hope you have a good afternoon, and best birthday wishes to taff - sorry, I can't find the birthday cake graphic on my mobile. xxx0 -
Popping back on to wish -TAFF Happy Birthday - that seemed to slip by me so sorry I am a bit late!
What a fine mess I got myself into when I made my soup this morning!! Last time I used my liquidiser I dropped the jug part on the floor. I examined it and thought it looked intact. Err well it wasn't! When I tipped my soup in it started leaking out of the bottom! I quickly tipped what was left in the jug into a bowl and started cleaning the mess up! The liquidiser base and jug then hit the bin. I got out my new whizzer and stuck that in the bowl, switched on and OMG there was soup flying all over me and all over the kitchen! I hadn't noticed there was a plastic shield over the blades out of sight underneath! By then there was very little soup left to whizz up but once I had removed the offending shield it whizzed perfectly. I didn't know where to start cleaning up the soup that had sprayed everywhere! I wasn't amused at the time but have to smile now!
DS and his lady called up after lunch with Xmas cards for me, DD and the girls. We had a laugh when I told them about the soup! They put me to shame, they have all their cards written and posted and all presents bought and wrapped.
All the Christmas decs are still boxed up on the landing and I can't rake up any enthusiasm to do anything with them. But I have just written a few cards for immediate family.
NELSKI my heart goes out to HOLLY she has so much to contend with and it sounds like she has very little support now she is back home.
Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Evening all,
It's been a fairly productive week for me, puddings (3small ones) cooked and wrapped, cake made and looks ok, will make some mince pies as the week goes on.
DDs and OHs took the smaller DGCs on a steam train trip with Santa today......they had a great time and I just vegged and read the paper. OH cooked dinner......steak, baked potato, turnip, broccoli, onions and mushrooms, followed by pineapple and 8ce cream.......was lovely..
TA......in Ireland it is usual not to send cards the Christmas after a bereavement, don't worry about not feeling up to "doing" Christmas this year. I think that you are doing. very well and deserve a huge clap on the back
Sorry to hear that Holly is not doing so well.......if you are reading please know that we are all thinking of you and sending positive vibes and much love.
Taft.......hugs.
There goes the memory.......love and hugs to everyone .
