You might also like to explain what you mean by a 'trill alert', for those who don't get anything even vaguely resembling this. Do you get this when doing anything else? Does it come from a specific program? What are you playing at the time?0

Everyone gets it if they use the taskbar control or the volume mixer.
No you cannot stop it, it is there to offer a sound level for you to help you set it. Why would anyone by upset at that.
If you are already in some program then use the volume control in it to avoid the issue or just use the keyboard shortcut if you mus tchange the master level, these do not make the sound.0 -

Use your mouse wheel to turn up or down when the bar is open. It only gives a tone when you click on the bar.
It's a 'system sound' You can turn them off in the sounds setting, control panel..If you do, you won't get system sounds anywhere.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

That's the normal operation when using the slide bar manually to control the volume. If you don't want to hear it, and as stated I can't see why it would annoy you so, then use the dedicated volume keys on your keyboard if you have them or if you have a scroll wheel on your mouse use that to adjust the volume slider.0 -
