How are property prices manipulated in favour of the rich?

How is the government fiddling with the lending and interest rates? Interest rates are still (last time I looked) at historical all time lows meaning we can borrow at sub-inflationary rates?

    You answered your own question.

When interest rates go back to historical norms of above 6% then property prices will correct to affordable levels.

Rents and property prices are manipulated higher by historically low interest rates.

This is why the market is broken.

The good news is things always correct eventually and the people rising up with the yellow vest protests will just help that correction come sooner.

So people setting fire to the streets and blowing their hands off with hand grenades will make the BOE raise interest rates to 6% overnight.

Meanwhile in the real world - pay is rising at 3.1% and unemployment is at historic lows.

As a net saver I'd love interest rates to be at 6% but there is no way interest rates will get this high again in the short to medium term. Even if they did there is no guarantee house prices would fall.
  • Manipulated markets always fail in the end.

    Free markets are inevitable.

Rip the band aid off in one go, yes it hurts, yes there is paid for a short time.

But trying to take the band aid off slowly causes more pain.

Raising interest rates back up to normal slowly is going to cause more pain and suffering all round.

The pound is falling, the brexit mess is not good all round.

Interest rates can not stay down for much longer, even though raising them will help property to correct in value

Also get the UK producing again, instead of buying from the rest of the world, produce what we need ourselves. Then no deal wouldn't matter as much.

    Producing what ?

Our consumer preferences now require manufacturing technologies and scale way beyond our capability. Apparel for example, people expect every colour and size available in store and constant new styles and we pay average 1 Euro per item sourced regardless of complexity. We dont have the technology or labour force to provide that

Get the people working the land, we can provide everything we NEED.

Forget fancy colours and styles, must stick to what we need.

It's looking like no deal come March, I see this as a good thing.

To be fair, the presence of mustard coloured trousers on our streets should be inciting a riot!

Especially if they were "jumbo cords".

Thank you for your thoughts Mr Pot.

Why aren't you living in the woods if a subsistence lifestyle is so great? Nobody's stopping you.
