Old Access CC account reclaim

Looking for a bit of guidance please. (I did do a forum search, but the keywords are too common.)
I hadn't claimed PPI refund on an old CC account that I'm pretty sure had PPI because I couldn't find any paperwork. However, in a recent clearout I came across some cleared cheques that had the payment info.
I have the original 16-digit Access card number and the clearing bank (Midland Bank) sort code. However, when I sent a claim via the MSE system I got a response that they didn't recognise the account details.
Any suggestions on what I can do to narrow things down (apart from having another rummage in my old boxes)?
Thanks,
John

I would leave it. It's almost certain there are no remaining records for Access or Midland.0

You can ring HSBC but chances are if the account was closed a long time ago they simply do not have any records left and if you don't either then your complaint is over.
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thanks for the prompt replies.
It was a bit of a long shot anyway.0 -

Thank you for that response critiquing my grammar rather than offering helpful advice.0

My apologies then. Let me re-phrase the 2nd sentence:
I hadn't claimed PPI refund on an old CC account because I couldn't find any associated paperwork. I do have a vague recollection that it did have PPI though.0 -

Hence my trying to find out if there's a way of tracking down the old account info through the limited details I have.Moneyineptitude wrote: »Obviously that's not enough unless the Bank's records show you had the insurance.
This I do have a clear recollection of. I had a recurring charge on my CC and when I queried it I was told that it was 'insurance' and I was required to have it. It was only when I later queried it again, and after much argument, I was able to have it removed. What I have no paperwork for (and no clear recollection of) was how much was paid out and for how long.Moneyineptitude wrote: »Even then, what valid reason for complaint do you have?0 -
You can send a SAR to see if there's any info left but the chances are there won't be, so don't hold your breath. But send one to be sure....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
