I will try to keep this short.
We left to go on holiday over a week ago. On the way to the airport I by chance checked my e-mail and to my horror HotelQuickly had sent an email about 30mins prior advising they had cancelled our hotel blaming it on '3rd party system issues'.
I had to call THEM..got quite angry and when they couldnt help me further I demanded a refund ASAP.
The £500+ refund has not turned up as yet and my bank advised they see no sign of it.
Every email HotelQuickly send me they change the time period it takes for the refund to reach the bank. At first it was 5 days...then 7 days..then 7 working days..and now thy've even tried to tell me it could be up to 30 working days..
They have now deleted their twitter handle.
Do a quick search of HotelQuickly on trust pilot...looks like ALOT of people have been in the same situation very recently..and some in sadly worse situations.
In short AVOID AVOID AVOID.
Thank god for credit cards eh?

They appear to be based in Hong Kong...
I would contact your card issuer for a chargeback ASAP. The failed booking combined with them deleting all their social media accounts doesn't look good.0 -
Never heard of them. Did you not research them first?0
-
I've used them once before for a booking which had free cancellation.
I remember receiving the refund rather quickly (I checked, looks like they cancelled the payment in my case, no payment collected so no refund).
The fact they've deleted their Twitter & Facebook handles suggests they are having problems. They've also deleted their LinkedIn and Instagram profiles too.
I can only imagine they are lacking funds, cancelled your booking because they didn't pay the hotel and now don't have the funds to refund you.
Did you pay by credit card? I'd be starting a chargeback as they clearly didn't provide the service (booking) you paid for!0 -

Show your bank the promised refund emails and request a chargeback.Evolution, not revolution0 -
Yea we did research them before booking. We obviously didn't go full Sherlock but did read about plently of people online who did seem to have a good experience with them, app was professional, listed on comparison sites etc. They didn't seem any more or less trustworthy than any of the other hotel booking sites.
I would imagian they are going under...exactly the same thing happened with low cost holidays.
And yes credit card was used thankfully..bank are already on it :money:
Just warning anyone else who may still be thinking of using them..they still seem to be taking bookings :eek:0 -
The same thing happened to us! When I researched them in April they had good reviews and then they emailed cancelling my booking and I went online and it was happening to everyone! It was so traumatic as we were in America due to go to our next city. I had to pay the hotel double what I initially paid and still haven’t got a refund. I think they have gone under Light Bulb Moment 13/09/17: Non- Mortgage Debt £42295; 01/04/19: £13645; 01/10/19: £9707; 01/11/19: £5525; 14/01/20: £883

Did you actually get to your holiday destination? and if so, did you have to pay much more than the initial price that you paid for a hotel?
If so, then even if your credit card company refund the full amount paid, you may still be able to claim the extra cost from them as part of a "section 75" claim.
Any liability the credit provider has under this isn't limited to the initial contract price and if you were required to pay extra for a hotel room of a similar quality, then this should be covered by the card company.0 -
Thank you for this info. Thankfully we were able to find a hotel just before we got on the plane for the exact same price in a fairly good location wihin the city. The hotel room was nowhere near as good as the one we had orginally booked..(and no breakfast included :z ) but we had to make the decision pretty quick.
In the end we made the best of it..but it definitely put a dampener on it.
Other than the original hotel cost we aren't out for anything additional costs.
I really feel for those who didn't have a credit card or additional funds to back them up when it all went wrong!0 -

Sorry to hear that Eimear! Its a proper kick in the face when it happens. Horrible to think a company has taken full payment and then leaves us in the lurch on holiday.
Hopefully this thread will make anyone who is thinking of booking with HotelQuickly to avoid!0
