                    Hi there,
My brother has received a penalty notice from CPM - UK Car Park Management. for parking on a road that was covered by them on a sunday evening. He thought it was a normal road covered by the council where restrictions on sundays do not apply. Mr brother saw the traffic warden by his car and asked if he was getting a ticket the guy said no and my brother went by on his business. Then later he got a penalty notice in the post. Incident date 25/11 and issue date 27/11. Does my brother need to pay the charge £60 early otherwise £100 or can he appeal/ignore it?
Thanks in advance guys.

The keeper of the vehicle should send the already written for you blue template appeal that you will find in post #1 of [URL="https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread[/URL].
Send it unchanged - no additions or alterations necessary.
 Send it as the keeper.
That's all there is to it at this stage.0

Thank you, if he does that and it goes further for example he appeal and loses will he have to pay for full amount £100.. or on refusal of appeal will he still be able to pay the reduced amount of £60?
 Thanks0

I am confused, "CPM, fine, penalty notice, Traffic Warden". If this is from CPM it is not a fine, or a penalty notice, it is an invoice for alleged damages for an alleged breach of an alleged contract. No-one has t6 pay a penny unless a County Court Judge so orders.
With matters such as this, which could end up in court, accuracy is a sine qua non, and clearly you have not read the stickies/FAQs, please do so.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

I don't understand that post.Thank you, if he does that and it goes further for example he appeal and loses will he have to pay for full amount £100.. or on refusal of appeal will he still be able to pay the reduced amount of £60?
 Thanks
If the motorist really wants to pay the parking company £60, then it is probably best to do that now to avoid any uncertainty.
On the other hand, be could take a chance and pay nothing.

I am just wary as is my brother, having never done such things. Clearly he should have paid more attention instead of naturally assuming that the road was in council parking restrictions.
Does or will he have to give any reasons to appeal the notice/invoice at some point? I don't think my brother would like it to court or end up paying even more than £60 if things develop further down the road regarding this. That's all.0

There is no appeals section to send back.. on the back it says you need to write to them with full details and a reason for appealing.???
What do need I send back and whole letter to them without anything on it?
 Thank you0

Have you found the appeal template in the Newbies thread yet? You need to copy that out and send it to them by the specified method. Presumably this is by post.0

What do need I send back
As I said in my previous post, accuracy is very important when dealing with these matters. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
