Cutting if gas is only harassment if the circumstances are unreasonable. Think there's a phrase in the act going further than that.
Its reasonable if there is a suspected leak which I expect will be the excuse given. Its not reasonable to do this to force access for a safety check especially if the check is not yet overdue.

I wonder if it was the first appointment not kept for the gas inspection, if so it sounds OTT to me. Take the money and move on. A £10 gift card would be irrelevant, anything over £100 isn't - if you believe it is DM me and you can paypal me an irrelevant sum.

It's hard to argue it's for a suspected leak when they do it to multiple people all who missed their safety check appointment. I doubt it would be hard for someone to show a judge it was policy to cap.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
  • Had the annual certificate expired already on the date you missed your appointment?
If so it is reasonable for them to have capped your supply. I used to work for a HA and know just how hard it is to get into around 1% of properties that do not want to give access. They usually have a compliance rate between 98% and 99.5% across their stock.

If you still had time left on the original certificate (they usually start the process about 6 weeks before expiry) - then they had no right capping your supply.

If it was the first scenario - Then I have no idea how you got £125 out of them.. but good for you. If it was the second - then I think it is a fair offer.
