Quick Light Wiring Question

Agree with the others. Looks like junk to me. Don’t think I’ve ever come across a legit light fitting that hasn’t come with it’s internal wiring terminated into an appropriate terminal block ready to accept a L/N/E. I wouldn’t fit it.0

It does have an earth fitting but I took it off for the photo.
It connects to a bare metal centre piece that screws into the ceiling.0 -
I would say that the product itself looks to be reasonably well made with UK standards in mind (especially now the Earth connection is confirmed). I suspect it's an item returned/resold with the connector block missing and the insulated connectors for the bunches of lampholder cables missing/damaged, in which the OP should return it, if possible.
To reiterate the advice above: the bunch of Neutrals need connecting together. The bunch of Lives need connecting together. Those two connections then connect to the incoming switched supply. All connections need to be securely made and properly insulated, and the Earth connection is essential. This could be tricky using readily available connectors because of the large number of incoming connections involved (9).
Standard disclaimer: all electrical installation work must be undertaken by a competent person.0 -
There's one other problem that I can see.
There appear to be a number of insulators/protection inserts missing where the cables feed to the lights at the 12, 1, 6 and 9 o-clock positions, something that could easily lead to the wiring chaffing on the metal. (4 of them have the inserts, 4 don't)0 -
Definitely a suspect fitting, due to the lack of an earth and no proper connection point. Your home insurance will be invalidated if you fit an item with a fake certificate of conformity.
I have read several home insurance policies over the years, and not once have I seen any requirement that every electrical accessory must gave a genuine certificate of conformity.
How many people could even produce a certificate of conformity for every light fitting in their house? If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
