You might have a quiet word with your councillor who might have a quiet word with his colleagues on the Planning Committee.....:)
Forewarned is forearmed and all that....0 -
I would have thought it would come under the heading of having to declare it - ie "Anything likely to cause a dispute".0

Until he has sold his house he is not going to decide what to do with the field he still owns.
I don't know why he is telling his neighbours his plans/ thoughs/ wacky ideas so soon.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to respond to this thread far
I agree with the above quote, surely this would cause a dispute! it already has!!
Does he not have to declare this?
The idea of a sign in my garden is a good one but does carry with it certain risks ie: brick through window etc
The local councillor is aware of whats going and she is going to talk to the right people in the council but made it quite clear that he can sell the land to who he wants and there probably little they can do, enforcements can be made but getting the travellers to abide by them is another thing.
Can anybody think of anything within the framework of the law that would make the land or its surroundings that would make it less attractive fro travellers to buy it in the first place?0 -
Someone else putting in a higher offer.Daisyfields wrote: »Can anybody think of anything within the framework of the law that would make the land or its surroundings that would make it less attractive fro travellers to buy it in the first place?0 -
How about matching the offer?0

Please can you, or somebody, explain what this 'dispute' is?
Who is the dispute between and what exactly is it about?
So far as I can see:
* no land has been sold
* no planning law has been contravened
* no caravan site has been created
* no planning applications have been made
So what is there to dispute about apart from some vague pub talk about what someone might or might not do in the future!
Now I'm not belittleling the concern - I too would be concerned. (is that a word? 'belittleling'? looks wrong...), but this guy has no obligation to reveal a 'dispute' to a buyer until a 'dispute' arises!0 -
If the house goes up for sale, put a sign in your front garden saying that your neighbour plans to sell the land to a traveller once the sale of the house goes through and you would not be a good neighbour if you did not tell your future neighbour the plans.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Our neighbour has stuck verbal deal to sell a piece of land for 5 times its market value to a guy
unlikely,
either it is really worth more or he won't see a penny.
(could even be both)
or
he made it up to try to get more than it's worth as he is moving anyway.
wha does the owner use it for?0 -
