My votes go to RUMMIKUB and YAHTZEE. Both my kids (now aged 12 and 8) have enjoyed these games for a number of years. And me and hubby do too! They are both skilful games, that require a bit of thought (but not too complex) and each game is different but don't last forever.
HTH`Save a little money each month, and at the end of the year, you'll be suprised at how little you have.

Another vote for Cranium, and it's different editions. We have a few!
I also second Rummikub (gets their number skills working) and Uno. We have a few versions of that too, such as Uno Extreme and Uno Spin. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Are you words or numbers people? We got Alias a couple of Christmases ago where you had to describe a word verbally without using the word. You have to have teams, but they can be as small as two a side, and you take it in turns to describe the word. I did tell the boys that if they wanted to win they needed to be on my side, but they didn't believe me!
No drawing, so much better than pictionary for people like me who can't draw to save our lives. Boggle's good too for 'wordy' people, and you could maybe do that in pairs?
Cluedo? Mousetrap's a giggle!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I got two board games for my kids years ago from Ravenscroft games one was Squirrel chase and the other was Haunted house. They were fantastic. Our kids really loved them. I got them from John Lewis but I haven't been able to find them on the web.0

Consider Carcassonne - great strategy game which takes about an hour to play. We were addicted to it this summer.0

We love uno - it gets quite addictive. Must admit we have in the past been addicted to rummikub but that has worn off now- I think cos all the pieces fell down the back of the wardrobe and we now have a travel rummikub and its not the same. A game we have just got and can be quite good fun is ban the bomb - its a word game - three letters and they can either start the word, end the word or go anywhere in the word. the bomb is passed around the group and each person has to say a word following the instructions given when the bomb goes off you're out...0

Myself and the family love BREAK THE SAFE , its a great game for kids of all ages, my daughter aged 4 loves it and my older kids 9.10.12 thick it great too.
What i love about it is you all play as a team, so you either all win or all lose, and it can only last 30 mins max.
The game is about traveling around the board collecting keys for the safe in the middle of the board avoiding the security guard and guard dog, you have 30 mins on the timmer to collect the keys and return them to the safe avoiding the traps along the way.
Its so funny when the timmer is down to the last few mins and the kids are screaming at each other to hurry up, throw the dice quicker.
We have had hours of fun with this game, we also love Nic Juniors Grabbit, Deal or no Deal,
