Sorry if this post should be somewhere else.
My daughter is going to be 8 at the end of November and she is asking for a game that we can all play together (me, hubby, & two daughters aged nearly 8 & 10).
We have monopoly, cluedo, and game of life, scrabble which we all enjoy playing. There are so many on the market but i know little about them and i don't want to pay for something we all wont enjoy.
Does anyone know of a good game we would all enjoy playing?

Payday, Scattegories and Rummikub are also quite good. We've got loads of board games but these 3, plus Scrabble and Monopoly are the most played. We also go through phases of playing Family Fortunes or Trivial Pursuit, but the quiz questions can go out of date within a few years and we've not got round to replacing them with a newer version.
Our children are now all teenagers, but they've been playing all these games for years -since the youngest was about 6, I think. DH and DS1 and DS2 also like Risk, but it can get very very competitive and DD and I tend to lose interest when it all turns nasty!!0 -
Favorites of my nieces that age are Bogle and Yahtzee, my teens still like these.0

Not strictly a board game but me & my kids (14 & 18) love Kerplunk! it's a great laugh trying to get the sticks out without dropping your balls

We like Cranium . It's supposed to be from age 12 but my 9year old loves it.
If you think it may be too old for her you can also get Cranium Cadoo which is also a great family game.:smileyhea0 -
I would also go with Rummikub, its a great game."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0

We got the Family version of Cranium last Christmas which is good - we also like Uno“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

another vote for Cranium... We loved it. some of the questions/tasks aren't meant for younger kids, but we would just be a bit "selective"! Many fun nights...:rotfl:0

Hi Kipper
I'd really recommend the Settlers of Catan. It's probably the best game i've come across but surprisingly not many people in the UK know about it (I came across it in Germany). Basically you have to build roads, villages and towns on an island, trading with your fellow players to get the raw materials to do so. Sounds a bit dull but is brilliant fun, and the dice can throw up some very unexpected challenges. the rules are dead simple so ideal for 8+ but its also a great game for adults as there can be so much tactical play involved.
It's been a monster hit with my extended family of all ages since I bought it 2 christmasses ago. One great thing is that you can buy extensions for it like the Seafarers of Catan so it never gets boring!
some reviews on amazon which explain the game far better than i ever could:
