iD Mobile credit check!

Just experienced something unexpected with iD Mobile.
I have never, ever missed any payments for anything, "perfect" credit report, passed numerous credit checks with numerous organisations, never have/had any problems obtaining a credit card/ loan, currently have a contract for mobile, on the electoral roll, own home (no mortgage), present address for 15 years etc..
I wanted a cheap, additional sim on a monthly contract to use for a mobile hotspot and navigation.

iD Mobile's £3.99/month looked ideal. No calls and texting needed, just required the 500mb of data.
They turned me down because I failed their credit check! For a paltry £3.99/month. I wonder why? The mind boggles.

I feel better now I've got that off my chest.:rotfl:

  • I presume this is CPW. They have their own arbitrary limits on the number of contracts you can obtain in given periods. IF you've had other contracts from them in the last 12 months it may have nothing to do with a credit check as such - that is often just a label they apply even though no external credit checks were done.

IF it was an external check you can freely check your external files yourself; it's quite common for an adverse entry to appear unknown to the person.

Yes, they are part of CPW. I suspected that it could be down to having a previous contract with them a few months ago and a generic e-mail response.

Why can't they just state something like - sorry we are unable to accept your application because you had a contract with us within the last x months?

They don't work that way. Logic, communication adn fair treatment aren't words they understand.

They used to allow one contract in 30 days, two in three months and three in six as I recall. They can over-ride those limits (have done that myself on a few occasions).
