    Removing it leaves a car with a void warranty, and very likely starship mileage, which isn't the car he paid for.
    I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

    (except air quality and Medical Science ;))

    (This was in The Olden Days when the M6/M42 used to do 80mph at 7AM. I pass underneath it now around that time and I can see it is virtually stationary.)

    That happened on an old Mazda I owned. The cable came disconnected. Indeed, you could drive forever with no mileage recorded at all.
