economy energy refund
Options
hi
have just recently left this company and as with many other customers we are owed about £500 credit
do I cancel direct debit from bank as I have been reading that they
have taken direct debits off people when they have left
the bank said if you cancel direct debit and you are due refund
this is how they would pay refund thats if we ever get it
also we qualified for warm home discount does economy energy owe
us this payment or our new supplier
any advice please
thank you

Are you leaving "economy 7 energy"?
If so, they don't do warm home discount
(If you are £500 in credit then stop the DD! )0 -
I'm in exactly the same boat now. I left Economy energy in dedember because i was over £200 in credit and they wouldn't refund OR reduce the DD after i left i got an email (i assumed a mistake) saying that they'd doubled my DD. I'm already with a new supplier so i thought it woudn't happen - checked my bank now and they've justr taken £120. I would cancel DD now but I still want my refund of credit and i don't think I'll get it?0

Have you received your final bill yet from Economy Energy/Ovo?
Did you ever raise a complaint with the supplier?0 -

If they took the payment today, contact your bank and arrange that the DD be returned to you.0 -

On what basis?
If it were collected today, it would be collected by, or on behlaf of, Ovo.
Get it wrong, and the customer could face additional charges of £25 plus interest currently at the rate of 4.75% added to all the money until it is paid (including any accrued interest)
I would suggest the customer contacts the supplier first to discuss any issue regarding payment.0 -
He said EE took the DD, who's he to contact ? He's left EE, they shouldn't have taken the DD.0

Taken from TrustpilotEE still taking direct debits. DDs for both gas and electricity taken today. I understood OFGEM advice to not cancel direct debits was to simplify account transfer in the future, not to make it easier for EE to rack up my outstanding credit even more. Fortunately my bank has reclaimed the amounts and advised to cancel the DDs which they've now done. I tried to contact consumer affairs at OFGEM but after spending 4 minutes on the phone selecting options and listening to messages the line just went dead!! A similar experience to trying to contact some energy companies?0

There was nothing untowards in this. Certainly not unusual for a supplier to continue to collect the odd payment or two after they cease to supply that customer. It will be included in the final bill whenever that gets created.0 -

Think I prefer Ofgem
Lots of people saying lots of fake things happen on Trustpilot.0 -

Why should he wait weeks/months for his DD to be refunded ?
Lots of people maybe do say fake things of TP, are you suggesting that dizastru is also telling porkies, even though his story is exactly the same ?0
