if u have to get your sofas then i would wait for january sales and then haggle too - i have got a further 20% off in mfi before just for asking.

the other option is to get it on 0% in somewhere like dfs, where you would only be paying £20-odd per month for the 2 x
  • Hi thanks for the comments all

Yes we are definately going to wait until the jan sales - it makes sense - we just have to hold strong between now and then with Christmas coming up.

We can use the conservatory in the winter. We've got a couple of heaters in there which make the difference however if were not using it for the next couple of months the heaters wills stay off to reduce costs :D

    on the dog-chewing front........

we normally never pay for any insurances/extended warranties etc at anywhere including argos, but we have a dog who used to like chewing the sky gadget (and inevitably the one time we forgot to put it out of the way:rolleyes:).

so when we went to buy another in argos (£19.99, remember this was before i discovered mse) we enquired if the £4.99 insurance covered pet damage and they said yes. so we bought the insurance and when the dog ruined it again we claimed one for free! fortunately, he has grown out of it now - too busy snoozing;).

have you tried leaving them chew toys/bones/kong-type things at all? i know dogs always want to chew the stuff they're not supposed to.

talking of which, i don't know how you feel re. quality vs price when it comes to sofas for the conservatory, but argos have got sofas from £125 and they have the spend £100 get a £10 voucher on at the mo/soon. plus quidco have got free delivery code plus a little cashback x
  • Hi Firesidemaid

We've tried the dog chews etc stuff but he just likes to chew (he's one)!!

we've now taken the step of leaving him outside in the shed (complete with doggy door) during the day/night and only letting him in when we are around. This should hopefully sort the furniture damage out!

I'll bear the Argos insurance in mind when we get to the point of actually replacing the sofa's...

  • Before I reflect on my year anniversary as a DFW I'd just thought I'd share the fact that I've just cleared my MBNA card in its entirety with my loan fund. The fund was standing at £1200 today so that and some of the usual monthly payment was paid across today to clear the balance in full.........:j :j :j What a feeling it is when a debt is cleared.

Next I'll be writing a CC cheque for £2262.78 to clear the Cahoot loan onto the MBNA card. This will then be cleared with a BT cheque on the above MBNA card to then be cleared with by the end of the year. It does make sense honest!!!

Gosh its a fab feeling clearing a card in any way shape or form.

It made me laugh that because we are such good customers they've increased our credit limit :rotfl:
