    Morning :santa2:,
It was foggy and frozen this morning, actually the cars were frozen at 7 last night as we nipped to get a hook for the wreath, brr.I lit the burner yesterday but DH has put his electric saw on top of the wood so I cant get any more out
I'm waiting a bit before I take Ly1a out,let it lighten /warm up a bit. Might be nice once the fog has gone.I'm having another pottering day- didnt get the ironing done, too busy making the wreath, which turned out well. There's always something more interesting than ironing :rotfl:However I did wash down the top of my cupboards stood on my new stepladder :T
Tru thanks for the carol. My online delivery slots are booked for the next 3 weeks,I keep revising what's in my baskets :D

Silver oldie, sending you a great big hug xxx

  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need, especially SILVER OLDIE.

Thanks for the Carol Tru, I met Gok Wan about 10 years ago at a book signing. I had dgd with me and she was a few weeks old, he made a huge fuss of her, got her out of her pushchair for a cuddle and just laughed when she puked on his very smart black shirt, he was lovely.

We got back from Willington about 2 yesterday after CHS had had another look around the boat. Our boat was freezing as obviously the stove was out. We 're-lit it and then set of for CHS's hospital appointment. We will need to keep the stove topped up for a few days until the boat is warmed through.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

Delurking(I have been reading for years)
Silver -oldie ,I am sitting quietly beside you ,it will be 8 yrs next month since my daughter died .
It doesn't get easier does it ,the hole just gets bigger .Much love .
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Extra hug for SO, it is coming up to the day my youngest son died, deliberately planned nothing for that day.

Its a bright morning, sun is shining, how long for is another matter, its very cold, although I have not opened the door yet.

Cleaner here this morning, I am going to put the towels in the washer shortly, I went a bit mad the other night and ordered two new sets from Christy's. They were half price........My present towels are at least 20 years old and wearing a bit thin now. I might go mad and hang them out OH tells me its to be dry all day. They also came from Christy's.

Running short of spuds so Toad in the hole tonight, we do not have spuds if I do a yorkshire pudd.

Trip to the post office this morning, I have a parcel to post and need some cash and collect the TV choice for OH.
  • Good morning everyone. Brrr, cold here too. So far I've been quite happy with the storage radiators, they are keeping the flat cosy and are still warm when I go to bed.

Hugs for you, Silver Oldie, I will light a candle for you and your daughter today xxx.

I've had an experimental breakfast of quinoa porridge... despite cooking it for longer than required, it's still a bit crunchy, so I think it's a one off. I'd run out of the nuts and bits I put into my normal oat porridge, so will restock today.

Yesterday I posted two parcels to the Antipodes, nearly £26. Great value per mile, but adds up! The postage would have been much more if I'd done Christmas stockings as well, but last Christmas my daughters agreed I'd simply send a tree decoration every year. Those weighed next to nothing, but there were non Christmas items to send. Next year it will definitely be a tree decoration each, full stop! Plus money in the bank - the transfer fee is less than postage would be.

Today is a catch up with housework and laundry day. Yoga this evening. Last night I cooked a bit of reduced lamb neck fillet, yummy and there's half left for lunch with spiced stir fried onion, cauli and savoy cabbage. Using up some of the not brilliant kale and leek soup this evening.

I've got some pals organised to come for a "Gone With the Wind" viewfest on 31 Dec, running time's about 4 hours, so we'll do 2 hours each side of a pot luck lunch. My TV with integral DVD player is going to get fixed as the eject mechanism has gone on strike. I'm sure it's not a big job to sort it out but it won't cooperate for me.

Keep cosy everyone, and I hope you have the best day possible. xxx
  • Morning all, had a bit of a busy beetle day yesterday and have done sone Christmas shopping but of course not all. On the way to the shops when I received a text from my former manager inviting me to the team Christmas meal out at the end of the week. My other engagement this week is the dentist tomorrow, mot quite the same!

Still tired, I was reasonably early to bed but was woken several toss by noise outside.

Think I will spend some time avoiding the ironing today, Rosyred I'm with you on always finding something more interesting to do.

silver-oldie I am thinking of you.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Hello  from a rather frosty Merseyside this morning.

nmlc - thanks for starting today's thread and hope work goes well for today.
tru - hope your shopping delivery goes smoothly with no 'replacements' etc.
    ((((hugs)))) for you, silver_oldie.
TA - sorry to hear that the Sandman is leaving you out at the moment - I usually find that as soon as I start to read (book or Kindle), my eyes start to droop ;). Enjoy your meal out this evening :).
camelot - Nutcracker sounds wonderful. I'm amazed that these 'live screenings' haven't been thought of y-e-a-r-s ago - such a brilliant idea!
redruby - enjoy your 'mystery casserole' ;)!
LaineyT - have a good time with Lu and enjoy your HM Soup.
Gers - enjoy your woodburner once its lit :j.
snoozer - hope all goes well with the blood tests today and that the roof leak isn't too bad.
Speky - the Council Tax Department will probably want to see your lease for your Manchester flat to prove when you became 'resident'. They usually take a photocopy for their records, then you should get a revised CT Demand - phone them to see if you need an appointment - don't forget to ask for the 'Single Person Reduction' when you go to sort it out. Not sure what the situation is in Scotland.
-taff - I know the feeling where re-arranging the clutter is concerned :(. Trying to find aything in my 'spare bedroom' is like a game of Tetris .
RosyRed - what's 'ironing' - never heard of it ;)?
Hester - hope CHS's appointment went well and you managed to warm the boat up.
Suffolksue - ((((Hugs)))). Please don't always be a lurker - come and join in :D.
csarina - ((((Hugs)))) for you too. I love seeing a line full of freshly laundered towels - hope it stays dry all day for you.
WeeMidgie - the cost of sending parcels abroad is astronomic! Christmas Ornament sounds a perfect solution :j.
ancientofdays - enjoy your Christmas meal out and hope the dentist is gentle with you ;).
Organza_Lace - hope your appointment goes well at the docs and that they get you sorted with some anti's at least. Best of luck with 'Prodigal'; it's hard to 'set them loose' when you have so many concerns as to how they'll survive - especially when they're their own worst enemy :(.

((((Special gentle hugs)))) for all who need them today.

I'm getting picked up for our Christmas Meal at lunchtime - it's usually a very good event with around 80 people from Housing Management and Tenant Involvement invited. It'll be interesting to see how good their Gluten Free offering is going to be ;). I'm going prepared with some of my own crackers and Mince Pie - just in case it's the usual offering of a dish of 'Fruit Cocktail' or 'Cheese without Biscuits' for dessert ;).

Have a good day, everybody :D. luv Ollie xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:
It's freeeezing here this morning, I have put the heating on and it's going to stay on today. It is Lee's 16th birthday today so he was excited to open his presents and cards. I am grateful that we got here after a couple of very rough years and even though I can no longer buy him a red dress for his birthday (as was our tradition) he was over the moon with his trainers and cook books.

Silver-Oldie, I am holding you in my heart today xx

Lee has asked for spaghetti bolognese for tea so that is nice and easy. He is off to college in a little while so I will have it all ready for when he comes home. Lilly has an emergency dental appointment so I really hope they can find the cause of the pain she has been in. Phoebe is off to work in a minute so I will be on my own for a few hours which makes a change.

Bobby is waiting patiently for the mobile groomers to come and smarten him up and also de-stinkify him. Well worth the money every 10 weeks or so as he looks absolutely gorgeous once he is done. I am waiting for the nurse to change the dressings on my legs so it looks like we all have something to do today.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all
It's frosty here too with a bit of sunshine, but that's fading now :(. I think I shall get my SAD lamp out today if the sun doesn't return.
Got a couple of long standing jobs done yesterday :j and will carry on today. I want to clean the bedroom and bathroom this afternoon but I, in my infinite wisdom, decided to wash a single duvet in the bath, so I was doing the treading grapes dance last night :rotfl:. This was supposed to be done in the summer but the shed roof replacement took so long it wasn't done :(. It's now dripping/drying over an airer in the bath, so I will have to wait a while before I can clean round the bath tub.
Yesterday I also removed the cover from the old bed, the mattress has already gone to the tip but there was another foam bed base underneath, which has been saved for recovering. I must have taken out about 1,000 staples  but I am pleased that at least some of the old bed can be reused.
Mr Fix It has taken the car for an MOT so I shall refill the DW first ( it's already been emptied this morning ) and put a load in the WM.
Tea tonight will be pulled pork so I shall have to get that going too. I am making the most of today as we will be busy tomorrow shopping and Thursday it's my turn for bloods. Phew I'll meet myself coming back at this rate :rotfl:.
Right must get and do something productive (MrsSD over to you for a push :D )

TA I shall unhook the Sandman from his lair.......er my wardrobe and send him along to you. Be gentle with him :D
Thinking of Holly, taff and Poppy and sending many hugs your way.
SilverOldie sending you gentle hugs to help you through today.
RosyRed and AOD I'm with you about the ironing, it's always at the bottom of my list :o
SuffolkSue please come and join in, don't be a stranger as we're a friendly lot :j
OllieB enjoy your Christmas meal :xmassmile
OrganzaL hope you get some answers at the Dr's today.
Speky just contact the councils and explain your situation, I'm sure they will sort it out.
Camelot I wish I could have come with you to the ballet. Hope you enjoyed it.
Snoozer fingers crossed for Steve today.
Anyone seen Nelski ? Is she on holiday ? Miss you Nels :A hope you are Ok.

Take care all. The hug bucket has been replenished, please help yourselves.
    nan xx
