    Or better still use Libre Office, which is probably pre-installed, if not it’s an easy and free download.

    Nobody needs anything from Microsoft for ordinary home/office applications. Linux has everything necessary, including Libre Office and Firefox.

    Libre Office and Open Office have issues with formatting when saving files in MSO format and if you use macros and more complicated functions it has issues with Excel too. Whilst I agree its fine for ordinary home/home office it isn't necessarily suitable if you're using it in a large organisation using MSO and trying to maintain compatibility.
