If I leave my job can I claim? Help please :(

I am looking for some advice as I can't find any info on gov website and can't make sense of the contact numbers.

I am currently employed but for the 2nd month running I have not been paid! I really don't know what to do :( I really don't want to do another day at work if i'm not going to get paid but I don't know where I stand with claiming benefits if I choose to leave? I haven't claimed any benefits in over 12 years and not even sure how it works but I'm seriouly desperate now :( If anyone can point me in the right direction or give me the right advice i'd be really greatful.

Is it just you or is everyone else in the same position ?

Is it a national chain or just a small firm ?

You can apply for job seekers but whether you would be accepted I don't know.
Why not apply for some temp jobs (as a backup) if you cant find something permanent.
  • No one has been paid. Trust me, I am desparately looking for work, anything. It's a small private business :(

It would be ringing alarm bells that the money pot is either nearly/or is empty. Maybe Im wrong but as you haven't been paid you may be successful for job seekers. More experienced posters will be able to confirm.
  • I may be wrong, so hopefully someone else can clarify, but I'm sure that I have read somewhere that you can claim JSA (without any sanctions) if you leave a job due to non-payment of wages. It is not reasonable to expect you to continue to work without pay. However, you may have to follow certain processes first - I'm not sure. Have you actually asked your employer to pay you the outstanding wages? That's the first step. This link may be helpful:
