Can you hear that? It's the sound of silence! After a full on manic morning running ragged with the 3 girls it's heavenly! The two performers were picked up with their snack packs, dance clothes, etc just after lunch for the trip over to Bradford for the rehearsal, followed shortly after by the eldest DGD who has gone off to her friends for the afternoon. She is under strict instruction to be back before it gets dark.
I am going to attack my wardrobe shortly. There is an Age UK bag collection tomorrow and I have been half heartedly popping bits in the bag over the w/e. I am determined to get rid of some of the clothes that never see the light of day, even though I am sure one day they will they never do! Time to be ruthless and get rid of them!
Enjoy your afternoon folks if you can xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Afternoon all.
Weird day for me! Woke at 2am for a wee only to discover that the power was off. It's odd how quiet a house can be when every single electrical item is switched off. I phoned SSE to be told that pole had burnt out so I just went back to sleep. At about 8am two big huge lorries rumbled past carrying a big digger and other 'kit'.
I had to use baby wipes to wash down! Had a piece of cheesecake for breakfast as I couldn't make anything hotand then went off to work. All's well now, the power is back and my fridge / freezer is beeping like mad as it comes up to temperature.
The cheesecake turned out almost perfectly. I think it needs a more robust bottom layer, the thin coating of crushed biscuits wasn't enough to give the cake support and is rather soggy. Perhaps a more traditional bottom layer will make this perfect - the taste is really good though so I will make it again.
Now I'm off to heat up some pea and ham soup retrieved from the depths of the freezer yesterday.
Happy Monday afternoon.0 -

have you seen the promotion called 'purple Tuesdays'?
I think its something fairly new but if it takes off it might help your shopping problems, I have just googled it to read more about it.
Thank you.
Hadn't heard of it before, looks good. Sometimes use W@itrose as it always seem calmer and they don't rush you at the till.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Hi MrsSD
Making lists eh... now you're talking:D. Unfortunately for me I'd be writing/ thinking instead of doing . BTW You can push me about anytime :rotfl:.
Gers any cheesecake left ? It sounded a bit like me.... a robust bottom needed ( not :rotfl:)
Had a visit from Dad this afternoon, he was bearing 2 sparrows.... er sorry small turkey crowns. Lovely thought, but we will be 7 for Christmas day and 6 for cold cuts and Mr Fix It's turkey curry on boxing day. Put me in mind of him feeding the 5000 with them. It's a good job I have already bought a extra large crown and a large turkey :rotfl:.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

Scampi is famous now! Thinking about Eve, one of my little dogs used to bury her bonito in the middle of the sitting room. Her burial method was simply doing nudging movements with her nose and she was always disappointed when she returned since the other dog waited until she wasn't looking before nabbing it.
.
That's exactly what Evie does and thinks she has hidden it, they when she sees you looking she has to hide it again, yesterdays bone was quite well hidden for her :rotfl:! Have hospital appt today, have four boxes of kitchen stuff to sort to go in garage, did start on it last night but haven't got anywhere, although have taken the big brown bowl [remember them? brown on the outside, cream on the inside? Found it in a charity shop years ago for about three quid, bargain!]
I love those bowls my mum has one I am coveting and I was looking at them in JL at the weekend I might treat myself !!0 -
Talking about dogs burying stuff. Zeusy pup nicked the baby Jesus from my crib, ran out n buried it in my flower bed :rotfl:
If he wasn't so cute n funny, I'd murder him :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
