O/S Daily Monday 3rd December 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here but dry underfoot and not too cold, although forecast looks to be getting much colder from tonight/tomorrow.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, green beans, peas, swede, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Yesterday was a chilled day. Back to work today - expecting it too be busy as it's the start of the month - our busiest time. Will be interesting to get back into work today to see how things are - several people went off sick again last week before I finished - we'll see how many are back if any.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

After a very wet weekend it's a lovely clear morning, the moon is bright and the stars twinkling.

I have been doing some major decluttering over the weekend, there's a big pile of DDs stuff in her room for her to sort, also found some kitchen things in a basket on top of her wardrobe that must have been put there when the kitchen was done 2 years ago. I did wonder where the new flask went to!

I've also sorted and wrapped all the Christmas presents, just a couple of things to get now and it's all done. I couldn't stand the mess on the spare bed and it would have to be cleared up if DS1 and the DGC visit.

Good to see you posting now TA.
    You sound more upbeat dumpling.
Great news about the wee dog tru, that's a long time without a home.

I've a really crackly chest at the moment and had terrible itches last night, had to take an antihisthimine, I haven't done very well since I had the flu jab, it could all be coincidence but I'm not sure I'll have it again.

Hope you all have a happy Monday take care. XX

    Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

I was still awake at 3am and now I'm awake again, we are in the Ibis hotel in Willington, we've visited Mercia Marina to look at boats. The journey was a bit stressful, CHS had a couple of meltdowns but we managed ok.

We will have breakfast at 8 then CHS wants to look at more boats or the same boats again.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Get well soon CAMELOT. I had two flu jabs in the dim and distant past and each time I was in a sorry state afterwards. So after those episodes I take my chances and don't have the jab.

As expected yesterday was chaotical. DGDs dropped off at lunchtime with hundreds of bags. This bag to go to so-and-so's, this to somebody else, these to stay here etc etc. The hallway is full of bags and already I have forgotten what's going where!! Anyway no school today (teacher training) so the performers are getting picked up at lunchtime for today's rehearsals at the Alhambra (with numerous bags and pack ups to go with them) and eldest is staying here, but may go to her friends house up the road this afternoon. Ah peace for a while!

DS and his lady called in the afternoon and thought the girls had moved in there was so much stuff piled up!

They were quite late to bed last night so I am hoping they all sleep in a bit this morning. I am tip-to-ing about,

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

Did not get chance to post yesterday it was OH's Birthday and the day just flew by, he had a good day though and a steak dinner at the end which was lovely.

Back to reality now and work today we are on the count down for xmas now and the clients are getting more and more excited and hyper. Ive got to think of things to keep them busy today.

I need to go and rummage in the freezer after this for something for dinner, although we did win some bacon in the meat raffle in the pub so might do egg and bacon etc.

Some washing to do tonight and a sweep round.

Yesterday I found that Evie had buried her bone in one of my olive tree pots in the conservatory :rotfl:I bought them in to protect them from the frost so she must have thought it was ideal ! there was mud everywhere, once I discovered it it had to be moved for security reasons !! and I found it in the middle of the night under my pillow :rotfl: she is such a funny little thing.

Right best get on have good days all xx

Master tru has dropped off our Christmas presents. I could understand if he lived on the other side of the world and this was his only chance to visit – but he and his GF live less than two miles away and they'll be here on the 24th for family party day and on the 25th for Christmas dinner! I don't know what they were thinking, lol. They won't be getting presents at this rate, I keep asking what they want and they don't tell me – won't even narrow it down to something personal or something for the house. I might give them a couple of satsumas and novelty socks :D

Mr tru bumped into Gok Wan last night! He asked for a pic, GW said yes and glanced at the phone as mr tru was selecting the camera bit and said “oh your dog is so cute!”. They chatted for a few seconds but I can't remember what he said it was about, I'm just chuffed that a celeb-type admired Scampi :rotfl:

I woke up at 3am so made a cuppa and sat on the sofa. I fell asleep about an hour later then woke up at 6.30. Feel a bit like a zombie at the moment :D I'm on my second coffee, once the caffeine kicks in I'll put the washing on and run the hoover round. I'll walk Scamp then I have a bit of work to do, shouldn't take more than half an hour. I have no plans after that :D

Just a quick one in the quiet because I've been mia for a few days. Busy, busy weekend. we came up to the Yorkshire house with Laura, Brian, Chris and Crystal. Unfortunately it was horrible weather but it was lovely to have the time together.

Steve was ill on Saturday with labyrinthitis, which he's had before but he does worry (understandably) that everything is linked to the lymphoma. Anyway, he was better yesterday and we had a delicious Sunday lunch with L & B (C & C had already left). We have been left with Ziggypup for a week and are about to pack up to go home.
  • Good morning, and thanks Tru for the carol.

We weren't out yesterday, i gave the kitchen a good clean, and OH vacuumed.

It's my book club Christmas lunch at a local Italian restaurant, so that should be nice. At the moment I'm clutching a hot water bottle to my back - I seem to have done something on Saturday, maybe picking up and carrying the baby a lot,,I don't know. I don't want to take a lot of painkillers. Once I get moving hopefully it'll ease off.

Sorry to hear Steve has labyrinthitis Snoozer, I know it's nasty.

Your Evie sounds a real character Redruby!!

Lovely to see you posting TA.

Hugs to the poorly and sad people.

    Take care folks

    Morning everyone,

We really are moving into the darkest days now, the sun is just starting to come up, luckily it’s quite clear today.
I have my first rehabilitation exercise class today for my knee, bit worried as it’s been very painful this weekend but hopefully it will start to help. Other than that it’s the usual chores and obviously getting over to see the lovely Lu.
Thank you TRU it was lovely but I was glad it was outside and therefore relatively dark as I cried most of the way through, what with the poems and songs it was all a bit much but cathartic as well.
Had to smile at Evie’s useful hiding place and also Scampi’s celebrity fan :D

Hugs to all poorlies and those struggling with worries & cares, take care folks x

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Nelski your idea to take a magazine to mother's worked, she spoke not sure I would call it a conversation, brilliant idea.

Holly not sure if you are reading along but sending gentle hugs, thinking of you

Yesterday we sorted the freezers, found things I had forgotten and several things not labelled, but managed to turn one freezer in the garage off. Don't need much for C, only two of us.

I really don't like this time of year, Dec and Jan the worst months.

Hope you all have a good day
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Good morning everyone,

This weekend was lovely as my family came down to Manchester to visit. It was mainly for my gran to come and see the area and my flat and I'm glad to say she approves. We all put up the Christmas decorations and I got a real tree from Ikea (£20 voucher to use in the new year too). I also took them all to dinner as I promised I would as a thank you for all their help and support with the move. So it was a bit of a spendy weekend but it was all in budget and accounted for.

I skipped the gym this morning to go to a call tonight instead. I figured that's another way to meet new people by chucking me in a sweaty gym with strangers, so we'll see how this class goes. Ham omelette for dinner tonight.

No plans the rest of this week as it stands, so I'll be sure to keep myself busy. I might do some surveys too.

Tru - Now I know Christmas is coming as the carols are back!!!
