    It’s plastic.
  • Plumbers mait is crap & is certainly NOT the right thing for your problem, your ballvalve isn't anything special it's just a plastic part 2 ballvalve
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Unless the plumbers mait says it is a plastic safe formulation (very unlikely) then don't use it.

I’ve managed to fix it :) Still not completely dry but no constant drip. When I get a minute I’ll
see if I can improve it. Wary about tightening up too much though.
Not sure whether it was the new part, using two fibre washers or that I’ve managed to squeeze an extra mm of thread for the brass nut to connect to.
Thanks very much for the help.
  • You would have been much better off buying a brass ball !!!! assembly or at least one with a brass tail. A brass compression joint up to plastic is asking for leaks. Using loads of sealing compound is not a permanent fix, done properly you shouldn't need it.

Agreed. Plenty available fairly cheaply, eg

I do get what you're saying but the assistant in the plumb centre said the connection I have is completely standard and has been for many years.
He did point out the more modern vertical type but said I'd need to check dimensions.
