Buying out Vodaphone contract

I have an 18 month contract with Vodaphone which I am fed up with. I've been with them for about 9 months now and am paying £50/month. If I want to lower my tariff then I'll have to pay £25 plus the lower monthly tariff which will still be crazily expensive for what I'm actually getting.
What I ideally want to do is buy myself out of my contract and go with 3 who I was with before and liked, the only thing that bothered me was Indian call centres but they're getting better, as I think that this would still end up cheaper than staying on Vodaphone for the rest of the 9 months that I'll be with them.

I was wondering whether anyone had done this and whether anyone had any advice about what I should do/say?

Thanks, Caroline
