  • Thank you all, very much. Sorry to be so negative but I have tried the links and I'm afraid it is well beyond me. I don't understand what I am doing. I don't want to waste anyone's time and it's best if I accept defeat. I can't print anymore - I have more than 30 failed 'copies' now.

Thank you again for all your help - and sorry!

I have a HP Envy also 4500, pile of poo.... I will not be buying another HP printer.

Brand new black ink inserted because it stopped printing black even though it said still ink left and didn't feel empty by the weight.

But it worked, printed one page and 3 weeks later the same thing with the new cartridge. Had to mess around swapping the cartridges to get it to print. Eventually managed to print my returns label. Genuine HP inks also.

I miss my RX620 with refillable clear plastic carts. Auto reset when the printer thought the level was low and you can see the real ink levels.

    Old age got that :(

Thanks very much Owain Moneysaver - using your link I found it. I was intriqued to have a PM and it was from MSE Badger because I have 10 posts.

    # 13 forgotmyname - I have never had this problem before and my own Energy pdf bills (not Flow) print very clearly. It's the Flow one can be read on the screen but prints so very pale that it cannot be read when printed.

I have resolved to abandon the effort (although the help here has been really appreciated - my skill is like zero) because I now have quite a big pile of unreadable print outs - will use as scrap paper.

Thanks very much to everyone who has been kind enough to reply.
