Bought new flat, boiler broken and other minor issues

Thank you for proving my point so eloquently.
The OP may have mentioned Scotland elsewhere, but not in this thread - others have made the link from their username to other threads. Yes, "tenement" may refer to Scotland, but it may just be a term that somebody who's previously lived there uses generically.
The flat is described as "newly renovated", but with a 5yo boiler. "Renovated" may be a lick of paint upwards.0 -
Well, I don't know where you're getting that from - even looking at Akira's profile doesn't show me that - or anything looking remotely like that, or in anything approaching that colour scheme. Not that I do look at everybody's profile before replying. Should I?
And even that is assuming that the move in question is not crossing the border...0 -
When you've scrimped and saved and this is your first ever property of your own you expect perfection, no matter how much you've paid. When you move in reality hits you hard.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

The old style forum [ green and white] shows that.
I still have that colour scheme and format, easier on the eyes than the blue and white one.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Ah, the forum style that changed in April 2015, over 3.5yrs ago, for everybody unless they explicitly requested the old one be kept for their account?
I'd forgotten all about the very existence of that one, let alone the finer detail.0 -
Welcome to the world of house owning, a boiler may be the least of your problems in your life time. I've had to replace 3 bathrooms and a kitchen as it was in such poor state.
Not to mention the countless days I've used to redecorate and replacing the front and back gardens
Alot more than a boiler it cost me"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I'm in Scotland, didn't realise my profile location doesn't show on different skins. I did say it was a newly renovated old build in my op, as was it being a tenement flat. Newly renovated as in paint, windows, kitchen, and bathroom done up. Just the boiler is old.
I didn't check the service history before concluding the missives but I just found out that the vendors brother owns a plumbing company, so the service history probably isn't worth the paper it's written on if they were inclined to play dirty. However, I don't think that's the case and that's probably why they gave us 6 months warranty on the boiler.
So they're contractually obliged to get it working (assuming the text counts as written notice) and no more. Kinda all I wanted to know. Thanks!0
