Washing machine cover. Is it worth it?

Annoyingly, my Bosch seems to be having problems at the 3.5 year mark. I spent around £400-450 at the time. The next bracket up was Miele. I figured a decently-priced Bosch should last a reasonably long time. I didn't bother with extended warranties.
Now I'm not sure what to go for next. Do I go for cheap and cheerful and chuck the new machine when it's done? Or do I buy a top-level machine from Miele and hope it lasts 10 years?0 -
We've always done the "cheap machine and change it" thing. Neither of us care what make these things are.
This present machine must be about ten years old. Changed the door switch a while back for a few quid. If anything bigger goes though it's new machine time.
No extended guarantees.0 -
I bought the cheapest Miele that came with a 10 year guarantee. I wouldn't pay their prices without that.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Someone did make the financial case for taking out extended cover in preference to spending out on anti-limescale tablets you add to each wash. Presumably for hard water areas that reliably break a machine within the warranty.0

One thing to remember is cheap machines aren't usually as good on energy consumption as the more expensive ones. And often their load capacity is smaller. So the running costs if used a lot may make them more expensive in the long term. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

I deliberately bought a machine that was 'only' A+ rated. I want laundry washed in a reasonable amount of water rather than grinding clothes for three hours in half a pint. It uses about 43 litres a wash which seems about right for a smaller machine.0

Washing machines & driers seem to last longer when on solid floors. But I work on the principle that if it doesn't break within the warranty period then the odds are it is going to be old when it does (last one 25 years). So I've only ever once paid for an extended warranty & that was for a video recorder when they were brand new, but not from a nationwide type store as whilst the recorder was a little more expensive the low price of the extended warranty more than compensated.0

what are people doing to there washers?
never had one last less than 10 years.I deliberately bought a machine that was 'only' A+ rated.
Most efficient machines(even new cheap ones) have a do it like the old days button.
My Bosch makes the 3hr super eco wash a normal 1hr15m wash.0 -

My last few sub £200 machines have been 8kg.
Meh I can't bring myself to care about this. It's certainly not thousands. My father in law said something to me about turning lights off (because I don't) my reply was along the lines of, if I leave every light on in the house an extra 10 minutes it won't come to £30 for a year. Would you like that amount pro rata for the time I am here? I am there about 10 hours a year.getmore4less wrote: »what are people doing to there washers?

I dunno what I do to them, maybe I am cursed. It's only washers though. I have fridge freezers and ovens and microwaves that last much longer.63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0
