This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning all

Gentle hugs to all those who need / want one.

Two loads of laundry done yesterday, most of it dried and put away, left a couple of bits on the airer overnight so they should be ok this morning.
Went for a little walk yesterday as the weather was beautiful,so mild. Bought two doughnuts, reduced from £1.50  to 38p and ate them with a mug of drinking chocolate. Not very good for the waistline but very yummy.

Going to get ignored this morning, sorry going to visit mother this morning.

Hope you all have a good day

Morning :santa2:

I'm not going to report my advent calendar findings this year, half the time they're unidentifiable blobs of chocolate. Rest assured though, I will be opening the calendar and eating the chocolate every day :D

Gers I had no idea about cheques and apps! I hate mobile phones though, I do have one but it spends most of it's time in a drawer. I take it on holiday but only so family can contact me if there's a problem with the animals they're looking after, or if the house burns down or something :D

nannywindow Don't apologise, you're not speaking out of turn at all :) We threw the cuttings from what she calls her 'wildlife garden' out the front of her house back over, I don't think she's even noticed, lol. But these branches are useful (not that I'd tell her that), every now and then we have a large delivery of woodchips for the chicken run. These aren't dried out, the trees are cut and chipped the same day as we have them delivered. So I thought I'd save the money and use her tree instead. Only trouble is, it's taking ages to cut it all up by hand, but I'm too mean to hire a shredder :D

I've decided to rename 30th November – it's now known as December Eve in my house :D It is to be celebrated by watching the first festive film of the year. I choose The Christmas Chronicles and loved it, I'll watch it again in a week or two. Kurt Russell is a fab Father Christmas :D

I've been awake since 4am so I expect I'll fall asleep after lunch. I'll get the housework done early, go for a walk then see what I feel like. I'll probably sit and crochet til lunchtime, then do more later if I haven't dozed off :D

Morning everyone,

Ha TRU December eve love it, so glad you are doing the carols again this year.
I’m not planning on putting my Yule decs up just yet but will change the wreath on the door from the autumn to the winter one, oh and bring in my metal pumpkin.
Not masses planned for today, will get over the farm shop at some point to pick up a chook for tomorrow’s lunch and maybe some steak burgers for tonight’s tea, must also visit the next village on to get a net of horse carrots for pony. Talking of whom I need to spend some time today sorting her mane out, her forelock especially is quite long and getting in her eyes.

Hope the visit isn’t so bad SO hugs to all poorlies or those struggling, it’s a tough time of year to feel low, take care folks x

Good morning everyone and thanks SO for starting us off. That's good your weather was good enough for a wee walk yesterday, it definitely wasn't here!

Nice to see your post MrsSD. I think the darker months are very lethargy inducing and I frequently have a struggle to get my arris in gear... I can't believe what a challenge it is to get up in the morning when it's dark. Even tho I'm usually awake early, I'm a late riser these days.

Coffee club this morning, then laundry. Later on a visit to friends for a cuppa and to deliver something they need.

Did I say that for the first time at yoga this week (12 weeks in) I noticed I could do three things more easily - meaning the muscles involved have strengthened and I'm more supple, or not quite as stiff and tight as I was? Still a very long way to go as I was a complete couch potato, but I was amazed to see that things are happening, even with just one 1.5 hour class per week. I'm still not enjoying it, but it transpires neither is my friend so we're moving to a different yoga class after Christmas.

Speky, I hope you have a great weekend with your family, it'll be very reassuring for them to see where you live and how you're settling in.

Gers, Hester and Csarina, I hope you manage some relaxation after a trying week. Hugs to poorlies, carers and careworn. Nice to see you, LW, your quick pop in was lovely, I know it's not always easy to post but a quick hello reassures.

Time to get up! A bit earlier than expected!! Have a good day everyone. xxx

Good morning everyone.

:j Tru's Christmas songs are back! They make the dark days a little brighter. Thanks.

Not all banks have cheque deposits by mobile app though it's really useful.

I read until almost midnight last night because I want to finish the book and leave it with DM. Now I'm looking forward to more sleep tonight.

My gut troubles seem to have settled, fingers crossed. I'm not chancing anything on my shopping trip, just in case. :rotfl:

I hope everyone has a happy Saturday. Hugs all round.

Morning All

I've been looking forward to your carols tru, thank you.
Glad you're feeling better Gers.
Well done on the smoke alarms JackieO, shame they only visit you once every 10 years!
Yoga certainly helps with strength and movement WeeMidgie, I've noticed that too. I'm off for my class this morning.

Yesterday was manic at work, it was the Christmas Fair so everyone running about like headless chickens. It seemed to be going well, I left after half an hour as a few of us had a meal booked which was lovely, our little group's Christmas meet up.

Not a lot planned this weekend, I really must dust on top of the wardrobe, I took down a box to look for something and was attacked by a dust bunny!

Enjoy your weekend, take care. XX

Good morning everyone :santa2:
Happy December 1st to you all. I am very happy as it is mine and Steve's 19th wedding anniversary today and I came downstairs in the early hours to find a beautiful card and a huge box of posh chocolates on my desk :heart2:.
We are going to put up our tree and decorations today :xmastree:. I am looking forward to the finished look of it all but not so much the squabbling about where the lights are meant to go or which decoration goes where :rotfl:.

Tru, thank you for the carol, I love looking to see which one you choose each morning x
Gers, I am very glad to hear that you are on the mend finally x
silver oldie, I hope your mum finds her manners today and acknowledges you, I second taking a book there x

We are having southern fried chicken for dinner tonight providing Asda delivers it :D. I am also making prawn rolls for lunch as a special treat. I know Steve would have liked to have gone out for a meal but he is so lovely he is happy to stay home with me. Maybe next year for our 20th we can do something special.

Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning everyone

silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dull and dreich start to the day here, sun got out and shone for most of the day yesterday.

DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas, I'm now showered, dressed and eaten brekkie.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, side salad, I had ham instead of chicken.

Funeral yesterday all went as ok as these things can, there wasn't any issues whilst we were there, and quite a lot of people had already left by the time we came away. We have had a history on my one side of my family that when someone close dies and we attend their funeral whatever time of year a butterfly appears on day of the funeral - we were chatting to family standing outside our car in the Crem car park, and a butterfly appeared from nowhere and landed on the bonnet of our car - we know someone was looking over us.

Keep safe and well x
