Looks like a very good machine for the money, and will do what you need it to! I'd say go for it!!0

Any other opinions??:beer:0

It does not look to bad - the only minus point is the 1.5 hour battery life.
I appreciate that battery life s not everything but I would like to see more, otherwise not bad at all.0 -
it looks decent for a laptop but if portability isnt essential then i would go for a desktop pc. for what you want to do it is probably better than you need though. for what you want you could probably get one for £300 somewhere. for the amount you are willing to spend if you found one for £300 you would then have enough money left over to get an ipod or something like that. or treat yourself to something else.0

Equivalent specification Dell laptops are a similar price (a bit less if delivery is not included on this samsung) and Dell's are generally the cheapest on the market so it is a good benchmark imo! I am not sure you would get a decent Desktop for £200 cheaper Donna, plus the OP is getting £50 off the Laptop!!
Sorry for my short reply earlier!0 -

as they have said they only need it for course work and downloading the odd mp3 track. so a lesser pc would probably do. there is certainly no need for one with vista home premium, vista basic would do.0 -
True, but from experience users will often want to move into new stuff once then get a new machine, photos, dvd;s etc. And for the £100ish it might save then in my opinion tisn't worth it!0

Thanks for your comments, I was also drawn to this because of the free 3 year warranty which give you a bit more peace of mind.
Im getting the money from my parents upto £500, so i cant really get one for £300 and keep the other 200 if you see what i mean, so im trying to get the best i can with all or most of the money:beer:0 -
That is a fair point! I had missed the 3 year warrenty! That makes the deal even better!! And you are right it does bring a big piece of mind. The only thing none of us can comment on (unless anyone has one) is the build quaility, but based on the samsung products i do have experience with mainly monitors & printers then you shouldn't have a problem!

how about this,

or this desktop,

these are just examples i found in pc world. you could probably get something better elsewhere and you would certainly find either a laptop or desktop that will meet your needs and be less than £500. although you may or may not find one as good as that one you have already found.0
