The eucalyptus leaf print was dreadful...and how dare she suggest that panetonne goes stale in the cupboard? In my home it gets wolfed down with latte
That's when you recycle it into 'bread' and butter pudding!!! Silly Kirsty :mad:0 -
I caught the last 30min, I'll probably try making advocaat, nothing in itself that really inspired me but it has got me thinking about the pressie craft things I've been meaning to do - first up bees wax food cloths for my friend who is trying to go plastic free (and some for me as well)0

How do you make the bees wax wraps please I would love to make some0

Cut some clean cotton fabric to the size and shape you want, place on an old baking sheet grate a bit of beeswax over the top and bake basically, there are a few tutorials on line you can use a paint brush to make sure the fabric is completely covered with wax ad you need to be careful not to burn the wax (185 seems to be the oven temp you need)
My healthy green family has a good tutorial0 -
I like Kirsty on house progs, but find the crafting a bit twee
I've not got a crafty bone in my body though:rotfl:

My friend is on it this year, I'm very excited to see him on the telly!
It's nice to watch but some of the things she makes or has people make aren't cheap or even practical.
Obviously, the craft that my friend (and I do) is simply marvellous and worth every penny :rotfl: but we do it for the love, certainly not for any financial gainWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the Eucalyptus printing was dreadful!
Kirsty isn't our favourite person. My husband is a woodturner of 40 years plus, my son is a blacksmith, my mum has made cards for over 20 years, and both my sister and myself are fairly good all-round crafters, and she rather put our backs up by doing a course for an afternoon and then producing top quality complex work to show what she had done - yeah, right! Some crafts have also been demonstrated without any thought of health and safety, which is irresponsible to say the least. As Iccy says, some of her suggestions are expensive, a couple of pounds here and another couple of pounds there tends to mount up.
However, I watch it for ideas, and because I appreciate the skills that other craftpeople bring. I thought the snow pictures were absolutely amazing.Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

I quite like the woman but hate the tatty things that are made (mostly tatty), still, if it gives beginners ideas for crafting but you have to be pretty desperate to follow her every word. Tat like those things mostly end up in landfill and then in the oceans or burnt. It is a time filler for some I expect0

Just caught up on the last two episodes.
I thought the wall of flowers was very creative and like the idea of pimping up my old wreath.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Maybe you're the only person in the whole world that remembered/bothered that she did more than the inaugural episode... and watched it
I've never had any wreath ... so I've no old wreath to pimp (hate that word!). I did notice that Poundland had wreath twisted wood stuff ... and simple wreaths for £1.
I did see, on a Facebook page, where some woman in my area had gone to some River Cottage wreath making event and made a wreath .... that she didn't even want and was offering/giving it away free in exchange for "a charity donation"... and I thought about the waste of time, money, wreath resources and world resources (fuel to go there/back) ... and I thought "you live in a bubble love... a bubble".
I'll probably go and check out Kirsty's next episodes online in the coming day/s ... just so I can be further outraged by the utter tweeness of people who live that lifestyle ... and how, having gone to these lengths to do these things, are probably next "sharing" posts about "single use plastics" and waste online, so they're "seen to be doing something and caring" .... just for gathering "likes" on pointless and faceless Facebook.
*sighs* what a world.0
