The one tonight at 8 is an hour long, each week for a few weeks. Then come Monday she does a similar get up with people competing for little crafty challenges each weekday teatime until Christmas. I watch it every year. I have the programme to thank for learning crochet about 8 years ago. She was crocheting a string basket that was just so useful for pennies. I loved the window painting :D

Add up the stuff she uses though ... and you could just buy something similar cheaper at Poundland/Home Bargains ... or just go without as it's not essential.

She makes some nice stuff... but ask yourself if you really want to clutter up the house with it, having gone out of your way to source all the bits and bobs..... all that time/effort ... to create clutter.

Just watch the programme and leave it at that :)

  • It's about as environmentally friendly as a Blue Whale Sandwich.

All I've seen so far (and yes, I am trying to like it) has involved vast quantities of plastic, aerosols and must cost an absolute fortune - just buy some wide necked milk bottles to use as moulds with votive candles you've bought, covered in plastic wrap, to mould plaster, PVC and paint mixed in foil containers (which now can't be recycled) to put candles in?

Old Style, to me, is more not spending a fortune to make a load of tat, filling the non recyclable bin with plastic, metals and chemicals, just to chuck it all away by January 6th.

  • I like to watch crafty people making nice things - it gives me some ideas that I can dumb down to make stuff might have otherwise bought. Cheap and eco it's not though, but fun to watch.

She's not my thing, I appreciate that some of the crafting ideas are great, but it's just a bit OTT for me, maybe if it ended with her having a sale of all the stuff she made with the profit going to the local food bank....

My thoughts exactly along with the not very environmental a lot of the time . Some is OS some not . The portrayal of a "Perfect " Christmas is to my mind not helpful to many unable to create that financially .

It isn't so much the crafts for that reason but her home with everything just so and set up for the Holiday season .

I think it's good that Fuds mastered her crochet after viewing so I wouldn't dismiss it entirely if it fires up the creative urge .

I watched the first series 5 or 6 years ago and even bought the book . As a crafter I did dip in and out for a few years afterwards but to be honest only two things caught my eye . One thing was a patchwork Christmas stocking or sack can't remember which . It was made by a guest on the show and I found her on line later and bought some of her patterns and kits . The other was the glass baubles . Hand on heart there has never been a time in my life to blow glass baubles , however I did do stained glass years ago .

If you enjoy it fine . Not wishing to put a damper on things but there are many adults and children this year who wont have Christmas however humble so I'm with Island Maid re selling the crafts and donating to a foodbank or possibly a homeless shelter in the spirit of the season .

I've never really taken an interest in her "crafty" shows before, but I'm enjoying it for the visuals and the techniques. Its pure entertainment - I'm not interested in accumulating more toott, and I agree that much is expensive and noty good for the environment.

The eucalyptus leaf print was dreadful...and how dare she suggest that panetonne goes stale in the cupboard? In my home it gets wolfed down with latte :)

I went off her shows when she used to go to professionals to teach her to make something to enter in to craft shows.

There are far better craft ideas on you tube vlogs. Many are Americans using dollar tree (poundland?)but my favourite is an Irish girl who is very shabby chic and creative. One of her latest makes are these stockings....

I have to say we got a new TV this year, only because the old one broke, but this new one is a smart tv and I was amazed to see I could go to you tube directly from the remote, so if I have time to myself I go you tubing.
  • I'm clumsy and impatient so crafting is not for me; I admire people who have the right skills. Love Christmas decor ideas, but can't stand Kirstie so the show presents a dilemma (not that I have much time for telly).
