Amazon Closed Account

Options
Hi, I signed up and purchased a macbook pro from Amazon.it, was shipped and received ok.

Amazon then decided to close my account as it they said it had been linked to a previous account 4 years ago that was also closed. Ive not had any amazon.it accounts before so unsure where they have got this from.

Now Im wanting to return the macbook as its no longer required as a gift. Its still sealed and unopened. I cant login to the account to access the returns section and there is no returns paper in the box with the laptop.

Amazon UK will not deal with it and just tell me to contact Amazon.it

Ive tried emailing multiple times to their customer service but only receiving generic replies telling me to login (which i cant do) etc but no actual instructions how to approach this situation. The only phone number is for Italian speakers.

What are my options regarding this? Thanks

It doesn't need to be an Amazon.it account, it can be any account with Amazon. Once they close an account any other accounts from anywhere in the world will be closed.

Technically you now have a problem that only Amazon.it will deal with so email them using Google translate.

Ive been doing this but seem to only get 1 reply from each person emailing me back. They respond with a generic message and dont reply to my second email

Have you ever had an Amazon account closed, regardless of country?

Anyway Amazon UK won't deal with this. I'd suggest calling them on the number provided, it's highly likely that the person you'll get will be an English speaker. If not I'm sure they could refer you to one.
  • How long ago did you purchase the item?

Are you buying Macs to sell?

If the OP has an Amazon UK account then there was no need to open one with Amazon Italy - you can use the UK one to purchase from that site. I've just logged into Amazon.it, using my UK login information, and was able to add a MacBook Pro to my cart, choose any address from my address book to ship to and select any of my registered cards to make payment.
  • Had an amazon UK account closed 4 years ago and have been happily using amazon ever since with a different account. The macbook was bought on that .it site

Tried calling again today and get told to email, contacted support on live chat from a newly created account who told me they can not start the process of a refund with a closed account and again referred me to email

Basically what they are saying is your a problem customer so go away. Don't mean to be so blunt but you didn't get your account closed for nothing.

Amazon have been banning serial returners for a while now and like Ebay and Paypal they link all the details from other accounts people try to or have open and ban those too. The fact you have used this account for a while just means it stayed under the radar, until now when a high value item caught their attention.
